You’re totally right. The small % who do come to L1/2 often end up at Stockport County, Bolton or others in NW. either on loan or permanently. James Trafford was on loan at Bolton at 18 years old a few years back. However, this week alone Barnsley have signed a winger and Stockport their 18 year old keeper on loan.

As a well pursuer of lost causes I would like to come to Hiwula's defence. He never got a proper run in the team, but the main issue, as has long been the case when we get players who have been coached at PL or CH clubs, is that he played on a different wavelength to most of the team. He was constantly frustrated, making run after run to get in behind the defence and the ball never coming.

We shall see of course . What made them sell Archie, perhaps they misunderestimated his progress made in a couple of seasons ? . Not really the smartest thing was it? Signing a younger player always feels more risky as they're inevitably less experienced than you'd normally want/be comfortable with.

But if you're signing "highly rated" players, your chances are also inevitably much better than just signing development squad fodder who will never get a sniff of first team action.

Still, the chances of a repeat of the Jenson Metcalfe scenario where we get a first team ready player we can sell for big money in 12 months time even with a resale clause is very unrealistic.

Every club is looking to do that every single season in every single position.

I think we'd be falling into a trap if we wanted lightning to strike twice in two years in the exact same position. It kinda sounds stupid to even try that.
