Summer 26 Transfer Rumours

Antoni Sarcevic to Sheffield Wednesday.

 

Of the PFA first batch of trainers, there aren't many i'd say a team in our position would look into.

James Furlong - 24 year old LWB. He's an Irish left wing back who initially was signed to Brighton, had an ok loan spell at Motherwell and then Hull picked him up as a development talent. He was loaned to Wimbledon for their L2 promotion season but he was behind Tilley on that left hand side and rarely got a look in. He didn't kick on this season at Hull and in Feb he joined Maribor in Slovenia on a short term deal. Back up for Tyreik if we move Touray into the LCB slot?

Niall Huggins - 25 year old WB. He can play wing back on either side, released by Sunderland. His career has really been too stop and start because of injuries, but there is a talent there. He was Sunderlands starting wing back in the 23/24 season up until christmas then had a serious knee injury and was out for over a year. He came back to pre-season when Sunderland were in the PL and the team passed him by, he was on loan at Wycombe last season and again struggled to find fitness for a lot of it. He found some minutes at the back end of the season but there will be question marks around his fitness. A Yorkshire lad initial from the Leeds academy, can cover two roles in our setup.

Tom McIntyre is also there, had a few cameos for us last season. Other wing backs include Reece James (33 year old LWB, released by Rotherham) and Marvin Johnson (35 year old LWB), but with Touray on the books, another of age LWB might seem odd? Johnson was on trial with us last summer.

Ryan Hedges - 30 year old winger/wing back. He was linked to us on social media maybe a month or so back? Released by Blackburn, he was their starting LWB last season but he picked up an ankle injury in Jan and never got back into the side. Lots of CH and SPL spells on his CV.

It shouldn’t matter where the manager lives because he isn’t physically taking part in the training. I believe part of the reason for locality was because they didn’t want players spending hours in the car going to and from training.

Yeah i was more just looking for guys who could end up L1 level and play a position we use. Huggins might be the only one worth a gamble as he can cover either wing back side and i cant imagine he'd be very expensive. Was seemingly well thought of at Sunderland, he just had bad injuries.

I took from last nights forum that the new spending rules might be capping us a little more than we like, so versatile players might be needed a bit more?
