As much as they could offer him more money, do you think Jatta at his age would want to be known as just a league two striker in his career? It would be an odd move, but it wouldn't surprise me either if it happened.

In other news on X just a couple of posts, one on Dempsey with Bolton fans saying he'd be excellent for us and even a town fan saying it would be a good signing for us. As well as another post hinting at Kieran Green.
I've also seen that Hartlepool are closing in on Will Harris from Halifax. I'd love it if we gave him a chance to be here, as you'd have a nice mix of Jackson championship experience, Beesley a seasoned league one player and a wild card in Harris to improve with us, as I still believe we need another striker in case of injuries. Discarding Swan who I'd sell and Humps who is an attacking player, not a striker.

Unless we are really desperate for opposition i don't see why we'd agree to it as it would be basically their u19s wirh most of the u21s going on the tour to make up the numbers and cover for any late returners from the world cup. Also if we were to play them I don't see why it would be away

We should offload Humps and Swan.

Straight swap Tommy Leigh for Isaac Hutchison.

No approach made for Cadamarteri yet.

I can't see us doing the Hutchinson deal, although I'd be for it. He's scored a lot, but Rovers fans say he's a player that doesn't put much into games, whereas we have a manager that demands 100% in every match. One of the dodgy rumour pages has linked us and Barnsley with Rory Wilson on loan from Villa, who was on loan at Sturm Graz last season. No senior goal to his name yet, so that might have us all over it.

Seeing some Wigan say Humps is off to them. Might not be a great loss for us but I’d imagine a massive gain for any of our competitors to get him.

Shame as he’s a fantastic player without a place in our squad. Wouldn’t have minded him playing away and Bobby at home though either, but a player of Humps’ skill probably wants to play and of course I don’t see when he gets regular gametime for us.

Saw that earlier. I reckon the lad that started it is just trying to get a bite from Bradford fans.

Wouldn’t be surprised. Were quite sound through the season, but once they got Power they started getting gobby.

Probably a decent move for all parties though if Wigan got him? He’s been there before.

The thing with Humphreys, although he can have the odd bit of magic about him, is that magic happens too infrequently, yet so much good work and so much good build up play ends with him fluffing the crucial pass or dribbling one too many defenders and losing the ball. Head goes down and he's not interested anymore. He's a selfish player, not a team player and If he's still with us this coming season, he can be useful off the bench but I'm hoping that the club are looking for better.

“The issues that prevented that”? You mean having a far lower budget? Our first season in League1? We’ve already started to tackle the issue, by bringing in a forward that doesn’t get bored playing the role ;)

Aye, I get that, but I did ask for comparisons of pts per game from when we played Metcalfe, Power, Sarce & Pointon against pts per game when 1 of those four was missing.

Does that paint the same picture?

My point Jordan, is that you can’t really claim a “midfield lacked legs” when they played well enough to collect enough points to finish 4th? They didn’t “lack legs”, they did the job they were employed to do. The issue was the lack of threat further forward. I’d argue the pivotal figure in the centre of the front 3 didn’t do enough. I’d also argue Pointon was a disappointment, particularly away from VP

Humphrys was described to me as one of the best players in League One, and there are days that I can see that. Strong, quick, agile, neat feet, a half decent shot. The only problem is, the only times I can remember seeing that from him was Barnsley away. And thats about it. The goal against Wimbledon was decent too.

that being said, far too inconsistent, too selfish with the ball, poor decision making, poor work rate, head drops too easily, and the most important matter - played in the wrong position. Dunno what the management team were smoking when they decided to make him our first choice No.9.

if we can get a fee for him, then im all for it. He doesnt fit the system. If he is still here come August, then GA do us a favour and keep him on the wing and let him get a run of games. Might be the only time we can see what we can actually do

    So the latest rumours are
Kieran Green coming in, Dempsey sounds like it’s done
Not sure what to think of the Adam Phillips one, would be class if it happened but don’t want to get my hopes up
Then Matty Young the keeper too…

Pointon a disappointment? The lad is 22 years old and has just completed his first season in league 1 playing 33 games, scoring 10 and 3 assists. He's certainly more effective at VP than he is on the road but you are talking absolute nonsense to say he was a disappointment.

Fair points but heres another angle. Joe Wright, a central defender, scored more goals than our entire central midfield and he only played 28 games. Our strength last year was built on defence. It got us to 4th but with the caveat that the limitations that posed on us in an attacking sense hence our low goal output. Injuries did indeed play a part, i'd argue a small part, it was rare we'd ever look like putting teams to the sword especially when teams had sussed out our strength was built on physical effort.
I liked Power, i thought at times he garnered unwarranted criticism but if we want to progress Metcalfe and get the best out of him he needs a more mobile partner.

Thing with Bobby is that he needs players around him when he has the ball. Give him service and options and he creates. Too often, away from home when he got the ball he had two markers and was easily knocked off it. When we're on the front foot he tended to deliver.

Doubt he'll be leaving cheaply, if at all.
