Summer 2025 transfer rumours

We defended well without Smallwood against Notts county at home. Against Swindon we’d only 10 men for 80 minutes and Chesterfield we panicked after Khela went off ill. Doncaster we’d have got a 1-1 draw if we’d scored the penalty. I do agree though that Smallwood was a crucial part of our success and we need a decent replacement.

 

We only conceded 13 in the whole season at home, the best home defensive record in the division.

 

I think it goes to show the benefit of starting well and winning games at home. Teams automatically start thinking more defensively (which creates more problems when they are very deep) but it gave us a mental advantage in many games. Need to continue it next season!

 

Could easily turn a player off from signing....

 

Season before last the average weekly wage in League one = £8.3k

 

Imagine the boom will be huge when Birmingham and Wrexhams numbers are added.

Wow. 5.7m for 22 players is £5k a week average.

Great info but he has got his average wage figure wrong. It's about £4k according to his own graphs. Had me (and probably Stefan!) worried there. I can't take credit for this by the way, someone mentioned it in the comments.

 

If Orient, Wycombe, Lincoln and the like can be competitive then no reason we can't.

I bet that £8k figure was for the leagues top 100 players. Ive seen that figure somewhere else.

Their owners are putting in a lot more than Rupp is prepared to (and that's not a dig at Rupp).

Don't worry, as they all said, Smallwood is just signing his 2 year contract. Oh...wait....

 

We aren't doing that badly then....we operate at the same level turnover/revenue wise at around £8m. That will only go up with increased gates, season ticket increases and TV stuff

 

Average wage is £4k, we can compete. Its transfer fees which will be the sticking point. Really hope we buy a few as the freebie pool looks bloody awful this summer.
