Had a chat tonight to my source who’s really really well connected to the club. I came away from that conversation really worried, seems the markets really hard according to them and we are finding it difcult to compete. Pearson is a no due to wages. As it stands nothing in pipeline. Almost felt like we are shocked at the wages and the club expected it to be like 2018/2019 but wages are massive now at this level. Felt a bit of dread in the conversation that we’ve probably hit our ceiling bar a bit of luck and sneaking play offs and it will be like this for a long long time.

 

Doubt that very much. David sharpe been around the block he would have that know how before we even went up. I believe in the recruitment process and not overpaying below average players on multi year contracts. The window is still very young and the club will have targets in mind. Simon Parker has just announced we have agreed a deal for a second summer signing.

 

According to Parker there is a signing next week and will be most likely Pearson I reckon

Also players from the L1 and L2 play offs we are targetting.

Your source been "on the sauce?".... because it seems very much like we are about to announce signing 2 and theres other options in the works from today's GA interview.

I know am getting pelters here but this person is really really well connected (seen the connection myself) are they an exaggerator absolutely. But they said the club are finding it hard and Pearson is a no, wants to much and likely off to Blackpool. They notmally have loads of bits of info but honestly had nothing and they said city are finding the wage demands too high so lots of convos are going no where. Only passing on what I heard and if Pearson doesn’t sign maybe they’re something in this?

 

We are now in a division higher and looking for better players than we already have these players have options and can take their time. There will be those players who we can’t meet there wage demands other teams may have bigger budgets, but as GA says he hopes to have most of the business sorted before they go to Austria.

 

No idea what league 1 players expect salary wise these days, but I'm sure David Sharp is on the ball with this.

I've been reading that Carlisle have blown Grimsby out of the water for a non league striker at Altrincham with expected wages of £3500 a week.

I understand Charlie Wyke is on £9k a week at Carlisle. Madness really

 

As you know, he has a good strike rate when playing up front - 8 in 16 (4) - as opposed to on the wing, not to mention the other parts of the game he brings.

 

And what if Pearson does sign? All credibility out of the window perhaps!
