His celebration last saturday certainly looked a little bit muted I thought, maybe he's been feeling a bit unloved of late....?

Guessing it's there to A) give Bobby a pay boost and B) might have something that's better for the club incase a bid comes in?

On the surface, extending a lad in his early 20s for another season would make the most sense if say his old contract had a release fee. A fee which in L2 was good money, but now we are in L1 and we are seeing 2/3rds of the division spend 400k/500k+ on players like it's nothing, the new deal might well cover the club to receive a great fee? That's my guess anyway, Bobby has a bump and the clause has been doubled or something.

 

Makes sense for sure.

Yeh the step up to L1 has been a struggle. Needs a move back to L2 to get himself back on track.

 

Doesn't sound like Revell fancies him. When he played him last season, it was on the left wing pretty much all season for his cameos and occasionally up front. His goals per minutes last season to say he played on the wing was pretty good, he just rarely had the time. I remember reading a Stevenage forum towards the end of last season and they were wondering why he isnt given a go up top because he isnt a winger at all. He played up top against someone, think it was Bolton at the end of the season, scored, then again never got a sniff.

Looks like he played in pre-season on the left again apart from 10 mins in the last friendly up front. Stevenage also close to signing 2 strikers say their local paper, so he definitely isnt going to get game time up front there. Amazingly how they signed him practically because he scored at will for Swindon playing off Dan Kemp..... they sign Young.... and use him as a sub left winger? Really daft.

 

But still solved a problem for us so that's Stevenage's issue not ours

 

Has he made the most of a good career ? For me no, a waste of potential , by player “choices” and management decisions .

 

Sometimes you just need things to click and it really hasn't for him apart from about a 6 week spell here and a 6 month loan to Swindon. I know he might need a fresh start, but as a buying club seeing that many spells at clubs on his CV by 24 is alarming.

He isn't a winger by any stretch, seems brainless to me to play him there.
