Yeah but all through pre-season GA has been singing his praises, saying he's been the best trainer (which GA loves) etc... I think if he'd have been fit he'd have started Saturday.

He’s not a bad player(?) , yet to see anything different tbf, especially as his “ finishing lets him down” . Hes a forward supposedly in to score goals . He doesn’t as Park indicated because we don’t play the way he wants and critically he can’t sprint like he used to because of his hamstrings I believe.

This year, he captains us in a meaningless friendly against a Sunday league Austrian side before picking up a knock and somehow we can't manage the opening part of the season without our 6th choice centre half?

He's not 6th choice though is he. I reckon he would have started on Saturday if he had have been fit. Even you must acknowledge that he ended last season in good form

 

From what Alexander has said i can only surmise that Byrne would have started on Saturday. Nowt to do with my opinion of him, just what GA stated in interviews.

I'm assuming you accidently missed my reply to you in the Wycombe match thread rather than just deliberately ignored it but here's a snippet of our "good form" from the point Neill Byrne regained his place for the last 12 league games of the season.

It's anything but good, especially defensively.

 

Maybe could have started on Saturday but I dont think he starts when everyone is fit and available.

If he does then our CB recruitment has been shite. Signed 3 CBs but a L2 squad player suddenly taking a shirt in L1.

 

If Byrne and Kelly are both injured surely we need a left footed centre back as cover which Huntington isn’t.

 

If Huntington stays it's got to be as a coach and maybe to play in the crappy Trophy.

I definitely wouldn't class him as a legit squad player, he's this season's Colin Doyle.
