I do want us to get out if this league but our main aim is to simply to build a foundation where we stay at this level for a few seasons to come ............its gonna be a decent one tbh looking forward to it for a change rather than the odd biggish games in league 2

 

We cannot come near to some of the budgets in this league. We either build on a gradual basis or create a debt that we cannot sustain

 

Lets hope the other clubs at their peril underestimate City.

Just having a scan this morning, looks like only 9 teams in L1 have yet to spend a disclosed six-figure fee or more on a player this summer. With 4 of the 9 being the teams coming up from L2.

Afc Wimbledon, Barnsley, Bradford City, Cardiff, Doncaster, Northampton, Port Vale, Reading & Rotherham.

Barnsley are under new owners, you'd think they try make a splash at some point? But they have spent on free agents. Cardiff look to have only brought in young lads so far but their squad already looks like it should challenge. But it's not really a surprise that the L2 clubs aren't gambling at the moment, maybe in Jan if any are struggling they try lob some cash about.

Midtable next season will do me let the other clubs take all the pressure for a change lets the likes of Hudders,Bolton and Barnsley become other teams cup final and let us simply go under the radar

 

Plus ALL these other spending clubs can't all get promoted which could add to their financial pressures the season after. We can just bide our time and strike at the appropriate time. if only.....

 

Didn't someone the other week mention that we were looking at Devante Cole? A journo for TeamTalk who seems to be pretty spot on so far this summer is saying that he is set to move on from WBA.

Someone did mention this. Would be a good signing in my opinion although I think he is beyond what we could offer

Apparently on £7.5k a week at WBA according to the same bloke. Guessing he would need to take a huge pay cut to come to L1? Looks like he is into the final year of his deal, wouldn't be surprised to see him end up in L1 on loan with a club covering half or more of his costs and WBA eating the rest of his deal.

Thing is those are fees paid club to club. Where in demand freebies are concerned, fees are paid club to player.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if we paid Humphrys 6 figures to sign on the dotted line to 'blow Barnsley out of the water'. If we are dropping a rumoured 6 figure fee to Crawley for Swan then why not Humphrys...

 

Barnsley supposedly have had a £250k bid for a winger rejected by Cheltenham.

 

Have Hudders lost anyone they wanted to keep as oppose to just getting high earnersoff the wage bill? I haven't really been paying attention but they do seem to have brought in a fair few and look quite strong on paper?
