Turns boys into men in L2 but agree they have to be careful.

Hull are under a transfer embargo now for the next 3 windows due to a non-payment of a fee to another club which ironically is the £1mil loan fee they owed to Aston Villa for Louis Barry from last season.

If these transfer embargos keep happening in the Championship we might actually have a chance of competing in the Championship as long as we keep paying wages and club fees as half the Championship is going to be unable to sign players at this rate.

Depends on the options at hand i suppose. PL teams are really picky these days about the best spots for a kid to develop. Listened to a podcast the other month, i think it was the Brighton or Brentford DOF or equivalent named role. They were saying they analyse all EFL and NL teams stats to the finer point. If they are loaning out a CB, they want their young defenders to play out from the back, so they studying the team and the managers past to see how often they will have the ball at their feet. They don't want to loan out to a hoof team. Same with strikers, they need to know he'll get it to feet.

Think MacAnthony said the same on his pod about them, you have to give certain assurances that you'll develop them their way these days. Wouldn't be surprised if that's a factor as to why so many teams even in L2 last season have moved to this 352/343 play it out from the back tactic and the long ball has disappeared pretty much even from that level.

Thanks Jordan, very informative . I like the 352/343 set up as opposed to hoof, however this passing across the back has to be a sensible balance . MKD, Notts County and indeed Mark Hughes etc took it too far and it became monotonous nonsense.

Obviously it wont be a blanket thing across the PL but most will be like that. They all play pretty much the same style these days within a margin (unless Dyche has a job). That's for youths they think have a shot at making it. I reckon if you have a guy who's 22/23 on the books of a PL team and he's being loaned out to L2 still, there's a good chance he isnt going to make the top grade. SO clubs will do them a favour and get them some football for their CV.

It was beyond a joke at times last season. I listened to Ian Wright on something last season and he said him and Roy Keane were in Manchester for some ITV work and Salford played MK at home the day before so they both went down to see it. He was seething at both teams for just passing out the back because its the in thing to do, but neither side had anyone who looked good doing it so in turn it makes the games look really poor quality.

Its gone too far, tikka takka is the worst football ever created. Yeh its was great watching Barcelona 15 years ago, but once teams caught on it became boring and like a game of chess. Wingers terrified to take a man on preferring the little pass inside, crab passing 2-3 yards and back again and teams just sitting back and soaking it up.

I watched Man City a few times last year and when they were chasing a game they simply didn't have a clue how to break other sides down. Watch any big european game from the 00s and teams were getting that ball up the other end of the pitch as quick as they could = and they wernt even hoofing 75% of the time.

One thing I will say is some players and pinching a living now. Yeh they have the fitness and they can control a ball but their football IQ is make a neat tidy pass 6 yards and stroll around the pitch thinking they are Xavi. Makes me sick.

I am so glad Alexander has moved away from Hughes ball and it looks like he has bought the players to buy into it.

I don't really bother with England until the major tournaments these days. The qualifiers and that nations league are generally dreadful games.

    You are right

    T&A
Graham Alexander gave an afternoon update on the current absentees and confirmed that Richards is likely to face two operations for his hamstring and shoulder.

Galbraith has left Orient for Swansea. £1.5m
All that nonsense Town offered £2.5m probably just noise to try and shift some season tickets.
