Beckham was a fine footballer, really underrated IMO. Nobody has ever been able to swing a ball in like he could. He was pinpoint 99% of the time.

 

Nicky Summerbee. Strolled around the wing with no pace whatsoever, couldn't dribble past a man... But he could cross a ball into the box onto a pinhead.

 

but they do get faster the longer they go on don't they? So he was faster then everyone else at some stage . Anyway, joking apart, did he lack pace? I can't really remember noticing it.

 

I hope we’re looking to bring in an experienced, proven player to replace Smallwood and aren’t relying on Max Power and a couple of unproven youngsters. Huge mistake if so.

 

Bobby is a quick thinker, has quick feet and can pick out a pass. He will get stronger over the next 4/5 years but to move up a notch, he needs to show he can outperform L1 this year. He will obviously never emulate Beckham but if he adopts Beckham's approach to training, he has the ability to make the Championship.

 

He played out wide for Man Utd but he was never a traditional winger. I don't think he was a slouch but he wasn't a speed merchant either like Giggs, Overmars, Ronaldinho etc from that era.

Wide men these days don't need pace, nobody wants to beat a man and would much rather pass the ball back inside. Adaramola started off like a greyhound screeching down that wing but that soon changed for whatever reason. Bobby and Sarc dont have pace but they have technique, IQ and can pick a pass.

 

Peterborough have just sold a defender to Rangers for £3.5m plus add ons. They really know how to make money on players

To be fair to your previous comments a player is worth what someone is willing to pay, reading the comments about this lad it seems the Peterborough fans think they've pulled Rangers pants down with this one. I guess a player could be worth anything judging by this sort of transfer where a club or manager rates a player higher than the fans do.

 

Exceptionally harshly treated by our fans, it's a shame I was in the kop the day the fan tried to attack him in the midland road stand, as I wish I could have stood in front of him. I used to have so many arguments with a bone head sat near me, thankfully he's moved now, about why Summerbee's crossing was some of the best we've had (at least in my time watching City).

I liked the look of that lad Notts County had on loan in midfield last season Abbott. Think he was on loan from Spurs or Chelsea? Looked really lively. Wouldn't mind a player like that, young loan who had a good time in L2 or NL last season and is looking for the next step this season.

 

They got £1m plus add ons for Poku aswell. Lost quite a few players but raked money in to replace them with.

He looked great for Notts County when I saw him. A modern day holding midfielder that could do alot more than look busy and put a tackle in. Could be him we are in for. Maybe Frank wants to take a look at him over the summer before deciding what his next move is.

That said, the kid is 20 in a few weeks so I'm guessing they may want to him to go to the Championship this coming season.

 

Yeah probably, Huddersfield were linked to him about a month ago on a random twitter ITK account and that's obviously not happened. But someone of that talent would be nice coming off a successful spell somewhere lower in the pyramid.
