He hasn't renewed his contract with Cardiff and they have confirmed he is now a free agent. Cardiff fans beloved he wants a move closer to home and given theres about 10 clubs within an hour ish of Leeds in L1 this season, he'll have a fair few after him most likely.

 

Would he play the Smallwood role ?.

Maybe but anyone in central midfield would be pretty much guaranteed to play a load of games if they join so that would be a good selling point.

 

He was at Rotherham on loan other season. May end up back there but Barnsley, Town, Bolton et al could all be sniffing.

There's so many L1 clubs now for a northern based player, it's just waiting for the best spot. He sounds like a perfect Smallwood replacement on paper having a quick read up on him now.

Born and raised in Leeds, got a move to Hampshire at 17 then signed by Reading shortly after. As said, Cardiff fans believe he wants a move closer to the family and just reading up on him, looks like they had a family tragedy recently. His 30 year old brother died just before Easter.

 

Just seen Byrne is the poster boy for the training kit. Nothing ever certain but daft to use him if he wasnt in GA's plans for next season.

Yep, irrespective of RCB/LCB....he is number 6 on the list. He probably wont even make the bench for first game even with Baldwin suspended.

 

He'll be gone at some point this year. I remember Lee Angol was the main picture for the home kit release of the season we got to the play offs, he barely played and was let go in Jan. Think Omari Patrick was the same.

 

I expect Pennington, Wright, Tilt , with Byrne on the bench ? Unless there’s A.N. Other to come in , who have I missed ?

It’s got to be Byrne or at a stretch Kelly .

Tilt could move to the middle in that case if either two of the right footers get an injury?

Really dont see Byrne ahead of Kelly. Not in GAs mind anyway.

 

We can all see it, you would think marketing could eh? Wouldnt be hard to get a new signing as the poster boy. Probably reading too much into it anyway. My OCD....
