Unless someone offers us a very good fee for him I don't see him leaving. All the times he's dropped down to league 2 it's been when he's been out of contract, when he dropped down from league 1 with Bolton to National League with Stockport that was following a falling out with Evatt

Bristol City are hopeful of keeping veteran striker Nakhi Wells at Ashton Gate next season.

The 34-year-old is out of contract at the end of June after playing a pivotal role in the club’s run to the Championship play-offs, scoring 10 goals from 28 starts.

The Bermudan, who turns 35 on June 1, said ahead of Monday’s semi-final second leg defeat to Sheffield United he hoped he had not played his last game for the club, while head coach Liam Manning has made no secret of his desire to see him stay at the club.

Now with their 2025/26 fate confirmed, the Robins are now set to accelerate negotiations to tie their leading striker down to a new deal.

Wells joined Bristol City from QPR in January 2020 and has gone onto play 237 times for the Robins, scoring 48 goals.

 

Would love to see him end his career with us, Wells and Cooky up front ah we can always dream

 

And yet we've someone on here saying he's not good enough for league one because he's 34?

I think it's more that we're not good enough for him unfortunately!

 

Yeh, forgetting Cook and Smallwood are the same age, and demanding we offer Huntington a new deal...

 

Put it this way if he did join then the whole mentality of how ambitious our owner is will have changed that why i cannot see it ............thats why i dismissed it because i will be amazed if we can pay his wages and he wìl get 20+ goals at this level easily

 

Did a season with Walsall, Grabbed a dozen or so

 

He's had 48 games in L1 with a handful for Tranmere but most with Walsall. 48 games 13 goals and 3 assists, goal every 272 mins of play. All his return came for Walsall, his 16 goal involvements came on average 1 every 195 mins which is a really good success rate for a one and only season at that level.

 

Such has been the case since he left us unfortunately. We’ll have to wait and see if he’s good enough for league 1 at 36 and if we have a chance then

 

Thing is that a fair few have it down as gospel and that the said players is more or less signed up
