Imagine we’ll have the option for a further year, negotiating that was probably what caused a delay. He may have been offered more security lower down but that interest will still be there next summer if we don’t want him, especially if he gets a decent amount of league 1 experience with us

 

I agree I think he is a good solid defender what let’s him down is his distribution which is poor

 

Best choice for all really. Gives Kelly a chance to show he can cut it at L1, if he cant, no side has a long commitment and he'll have suitors either back home or in L2. He turns 27 in a week or two, so he's hitting that age where he needs to be playing fairly often and is no longer a project to learn etc.

The issue maybe stalling him signing for others is he’s still not recovered from the groin ( ? ) operation. Pulling up on day one of preseason, if accurate , isn’t a good look?

I don't really know what's the best move with Richards. He is another who has a habit of getting random issues, not just with us but his 2 loans at Harrogate were the same. There's a player there but he's also turning 24 early into the season and he's not even managed 50 starts in league football as of yet.

 

He could be a Meredith and grow with the club over the next few years. Hopefully he can go injury free.

 

This argument has probably been and gone but while I think Kelly is a quality, brick -house defender, there were a few times he got caught out for pace on that left side - Port Vale comes to mind where he left absolute acres on the left, but then again could be an argument made for the LWB being sat too high and not tracking back

Solid defender but certainly had flaws, not sure I would have been bothered to see him go. GA clearly likes him and it’s another signing we don’t have to make though

 

More likely the club doubts his ability to stay fit. If they doubted his ability he would have been released with the rest.

Pretty sure it doesn't prevent the issue from reoccurring completely Bronco. It's just more aimed at reducing the risk in the future but still very much an unknown.

Leigh is in multiple times . Pool with Sarcevic walk up , training , breakfast , gym . Etc
