Not having a number on and Touray having 3 on suggests a deal isn't done yet or it was done very recently as Humphrys doesn't have a number of his shirt yet. Kelly has a number on his shirt so his deal must be all signed.

 

Why are you so down on the club we have strengthened well so far with more to come. Obviously we are not in a position to compete financially with some clubs and the hirachy have made no secret of that but all the players we have signed so far have had decent careers and seem to be appreciated by their former clubs fans. just sit back in anticipation for what is going to be an exciting season

 

Yes, it's often said that only contracted players have a number on while those without a contract just wear standard kit but like you said it can take time for the kit to be printed with their chosen number on so it can all be a red herring.

 

Squad numbers don't always mean a lot and can often be limited due to current players having numbers but I think they could be an indication of how Alexander sees the players at the moment:

• Joe Wright (4): suggests he's a start like most think he will be
• Neufville (7): I wouldn't be surprised if we see both Neufville and Halliday start on the opening day with Neufville used as a winger or at very least we look at it in pre-season as an option if Sarcevic starts and needs a rest
• Touray (3): Could mean that he is going to be the 1st choice or could just be that Richards hasn't signed up yet so lost his squad number
• Tilt (26): I can see him having a similar role to Huntington around the changing room but having more game time
• Power (6): Won't help with the inevitable comparisons with Smallwood and does suggest we see him as a starter

Humphrys doesn't have a number yet but that is probably down to him only signing recently and they've not had change to sort his number/add the numbers to his kit

 

Because I don’t think we are living up to the potential of the club. Current custodian has told lie after lie and I just don’t buy it. Even when I think they might be shred of truth in it we do something that contradicts or go against said statement.

Pig sick of club’s comparable to us having better structures, more ambition and willing to push the boat for genuine quality. Good enough answer Park, know we don’t share the same views but surely you understand the frustration.

 

What ?! We've just been promoted and signed 5/6 good players, Rupp is putting money in or said players would not have come, get a grip !

Have squad numbers been announced yet though? If not they're all potentially subject to change anyway aren't they?

 

For me the only statement signing is the lad from Wimbledon and Kille. The rest much of muchness and what a middle of the road club would sign. My opinion, but if available not one of the remaining signings would end up at a top 7 club in this league.

 

I was at training this morning at Rawdon Meadows. After a gym session they came onto the meadows at about 11.30 for a 15minute run. They were running around the perimeter of two football pitches, being set off initially in groups of four with the back marker being encouraged to sprint to the front. The sprinting stopped after a couple of laps and a continuous jog was maintained for perhaps a couple of miles until a whistle was blown. Max Power, who came across as being a bit of a character, described training as being 'f'king hard'.

Lewis Richards was present at training, but did not participate in the outdoor run. He was in deep discussion with one of the trainers and then undertook a series of shuttle runs initially on his own, but was then joined by two others who had been part of the main run. Make of that what you will.

Andy Cook was present in the main run and looked fit and strong, completing the two mile run looking in as good shape as anyone else. If his rehabilitation continues as planned I think we can expect to see him leading the line nearer to August than Christmas.

Of the approx 25 footballers I counted only one couldn't be identified by the four spectators present - a hairy six foot unit who has since been suggested on this forum as being Yanick Wildschut from Exeter City. So I don't think we have got any other trialists with us at the moment.

 

Richards looked to be limping to me in one clip.
