If Wimbledon don't go up, I'd see how much they want for Joe Lewis. I thought he was the best CB we've come up against this season but I'd imagine it would be a 6 figure fee.

Would love that neufville I think that's his name he has looked class in 4/5 games I have seen Wimbledon on TV this season

 

Both their wing backs are pretty good. Tilley is a good set piece taker as well.

 

I would be seriously gutted if we are not prepared to pay 6 figure fees for at least one or two quality players

 

Our wage bill this season was supposedly around 4.5m. with added gates extra money from TV plus other incomes like sponsorships and merchandise sold I would like to think we may see that wage increase by at least 50%

 

Was listening to that hard truth football podcast this week and the guy on there said our budget for this season would be middle of the bottom half of L1 level, so like 17th/18th in L1. We'll top it up for sure but not by boat loads. Remember, the players will all have a promotion wage rise clause now, it's standard in most deals and it will be somewhere around the 25/30%. So the wage bill will be about that much bigger without us spending a penny. Reckon it will be about 6/6.5m ish?

 

So effectively a 50% increase

 

I thought it was 6m already ? I’d say £8m this new season with the RIGHT recruitment ?

It won't be currently at £6m. Sparks said the 23/24 budget was over £2.8m, I know we spent more this season and the squad was large, but we didn't spend that much, I reckon £4m was about the mark after Jan. We'll released a few and maybe a few choose elsewhere, probably the current squad after the releases we'll probably be around the £3.5m with the L2 survivors.

Reckon the L1 budget will be about the £6m mark.

Gets absolutely hammered on the Preston forums who are delighted to see the back of him. Perhaps doing a level to league one might be a likely destination.

 

TBF on the X post announcing his departure he seems to have a lot of well wishes. Nobody questions his passion and desire, just seems his ability may have dropped and it was the right time to depart.

My wife watches some naff reality TV show and his missus is on it, he's popped up occasionally. But from the show, they have a house our near Blackpool somewhere, so if they wanted him I bet he'd sign pretty sharpish. His wife works on either Corrie or Emmerdale, cant remember which but I'd say he stays north for that reason. Fair share of northern teams within an hour-ish of there these days in L1!
