Jack Stott is leaving Middlesbrough. He's a 21 year old CM but looking at Gents CV, he was the development coach for this lads youth levels for a few years as a teen and this lad will have been in the same sides as Kav. It wouldn't be a summer without a tedious Middlesbrough link, so I'm creating one!!

Ah thanks I understand now, it’s the commencement date that counts ie the day after the expired contract has run its term.

I’ll drive him back . What a great signing he would be . Easily step up a division with time and decent coaching.

Barnsley FC's latest accounts, covering the period from June 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, reveal a net loss of £2.8 million. This is a decrease from the previous year's net loss of £4.01 million. The club incurred an operating loss of £9.6 million, but this was partially offset by player trading, which resulted in a profit of £6.8 million.
    Here's a more detailed breakdown:
    • Turnover: Turnover for the period was £8.97 million, a decrease from the £9.54 million in the previous year.
    • Operating Loss: The club incurred an operating loss of £9.6 million.
    • Player Trading: A profit of £6.8 million was generated from player sales.
    • Shareholder Injections: £4.2 million was injected into the club by the shareholders as equity.
    • Wages: Salaries increased from £8.33 million to £10.16 million.
    • Attendance: Average league attendance increased by 10% to 12,681.
    • Sponsorship and Advertising: Revenue from sponsorship and advertising increased by 40%.

He may have a point .

You could offer say a 10% sell on clause, as a further lure. Comparable to the McBurnie deal.

Definitely. The man himself started the 'it should have been less' chant on Saturday night after the players were singing 'he cost us a quid'.

full of admiration for Shep but we need to be careful we dont get too carried away with the current squads abilities, L1 is going to be a big step up and Shep hasn't played much at that level so the jury has gotta be out, he was not exactly pacey on the deck and is likely to cost a lot of money at this point.

Matty Pearson at huddersfield looks a decent experienced centre back and is out of contract/released, no brainer if wages sensible.

It's hard to begin where we start rebuilding for next year.

It's all very lovely that we have an affinity with players again but in all reality not many will really cut the mustard next year in league one especially if we harbour hopes of a nice mid table finish.

There are doubts about every centre back currently at the club and every man and his dog has had an opinion at some point on whether they were even good enough for league two let alone league one.

Full backs are ok if we can keep adaramola and with Richard's as back up that leaves another RB coming in as halliday back up along with 3 centre halves.

Midfield we have the basis of a decent team but with poppadom pattison still about and sarcevic generally blowing out of his arse after an hour we are going to need some real cover here before a Smallwood cover/replacement comes along.

That still leaves pointon, Leigh, walker, lapslie and wright who are all very samey but in all reality upgrades probably needed on at least two.

Up front who knows how cooky will go, is kavannagh really league one material, Mellon will leave ditto ibbotson so again probably another two or three bodies required here.

Another big test of the recruitment team and of Alexanders man management because we will likely need to cut some of what we have currently aswell as carrying some bodies again next year who in all Likelihood won't be getting much game time

Barrow list him as a DM. Good age, has plenty of games under his belt, could be that long term successor to Smallwood. Looks good on paper.

Doncaster have issued their retained list today and it looks like they are very much going down the continuity route, with no senior first team players released and new offers to those coming to the end of their contracts.

If we are looking at him and the DM from Wigan right off the bat..... we either got really panicked when Smallwood was missing for 3 games and deicided 2 DMs are a priority.... or Richie isn't staying and we have 2 lads in mind?
