I’m not 100% sure what he failed on but I know a few league one clubs were looking to sign him up.
He would have been a decent signing and I’m sure someone will take the risk.

 

It makes complete sense to me. Gilly was a regular starter in our midfield last season. Although unspectacular, he let nobody down. However, we have strengthened our midfield area to the point where Gilly has gone from regular starter to a likely spot on the bench. Therefore a stronger squad - at least in midfield.

If he starts, then either the recruitment of our new players have not performed, or we get struck down by serious injuries. Hence, something has gone spectacularly wrong.

 

Yeah it's a strange one, as he's been collosus at centre back for fax, reminds me of a young Darren Moore.

 

Whay we signing another striker ( Crystal Palace kid) when Hughes just has Cook up front? We have Smith who is a bench warmer already.

 

Is that the same Smith who's coming back from a minor injury. Perhaps he's being eased in? You may be right of course, could be a sign that Hughes intends to go with 1 up top. However, all the games have been away from home, might be a more attack minded setup at home?

Can't envisage City scoring 2 or more goals in a game especially if we should score first ...

 

I'd love it if Hughes plays 2 up top but he doesn't like people telling him what to do so I doubt it.

 

If Gordon comes in from Palace, I suspect will be used wide left of a 3 perhaps?

I’d like to think that we might have at least enquired for Hayden Coulson - the LWB from Middlesbrough.

I don't disagree that we've strengthened the midfield, I disagree that Gilliead has improved under Hughes. He's the same reliable but unspectacular player he's always been. If he'd improved, he would now be a player you'd want in the starting line up every week, but instead, you're saying something will have gone spectacularly wrong if he starts. Not exactly a glowing endorsement is it?

 

I wasn’t built up for anything, never am until I see them play. At the end of the day he will play where he’s asked to play.
