    Absolutely

“The 23-year-old’s current deal expires next summer, though the Championship club do have the option of triggering a one-year extension.”

Likely L1 bound unless they find a L2 club willing to pay that one years contract extension?

If he can't make the match day squad now I cant see why Luton would keep him for another year, especially if they are trying to get into the Premier, just commenting on something I read a fan asking Angol if his mate was still coming he sounded positive, I believe the transfer window ends on 1st September.

One week until the madness ends. I cant see him staying at Luton past this contract, especially under Jones. He doesn't use wingers, hence why most they had have gone out this summer already. If he stays, he'll be a 24 year old free agent with about 5 consistent starts under his belt, clubs just aren't going to pay attention to him. The lad needs to get out for the sake of his career.

In terms of money, it would be interesting to see how much it would take. So there's 9/10 months left on that contract with an option, but you don't have to cover the price cost for an option with most clubs. Dion is still on his old U23 developmental contract, Luton fans seem to believe at the time he signed nobody in that developmental team was on more than £1K a week and worth noting Dion hadn't had a club for nearly as year at the time, so he might not have been on the top end. Yes he might have had a yearly percentage increase as those contracts tend to have but that would still put him on at most about £1,200 ish at the most? If they are correct.... If you had to buy out the actually contract, there's probably under £50/60K left on that deal. May want to chuck in a bit extra if they want to trigger that clause but as said, it makes zero sense, footballingly or financially for a champ club to be keeping a lad with his experience at the age he will be next summer on the books.

Did MH make his comments about liking him back, before or after signing Banks? Can't see a spot for him tbh, especially after the great start Banks has had. Seems to me that Banks signed, because we've moved on from Dion.

Yes it’s a strange one. I think if they get someone else to pay his wages , ie the extension, they may believe he could still come good for them, whilst at the same time increasing his value for a sale before his contract expires??
    Pure guesswork Dave tbh.

As we know he figured in pre season for Luton but not been part of and Championship squad, his only outing was against Newport in the EFL Cup.

Knowing when to release the ball was his biggest issue for me, but I’d have him back in a breath. There’s not many players in the bottom 2 leagues with his technical ability and the ease in which he ghosts past players. He’d be in front of both for me because we haven’t had a player get us out of our seats since probably Beagrie or Reid.

I do feel Banks has the potential to be a really key player for us this reason.

By planning or luck we seem to have got two really good loans in with Crichlow and Banks.

The young lad Balagizi at Crawley also looks like a good signing.

Dion wouldn't be contesting Banks position he's a winger, although as we saw late last season he likes to cut I and have a shot, if he's available I'd be suprised if we didn't offer a loan or as @Jordan@Jordan says make Luton an offer.

Banks is also a winger? He's played out wide right and hugged the touch line every game I've seen him play (all except the Blackburn match). Also likes to cut inside (maybe because we don't have overlapping fullbacks) Dion also played that role, so I stand by my view that they'd be competing for the same area of the pitch. What I would like to see though, is Banks (or Dion), cut OUTSIDE their fullback and touchline cross the ball a bit more. Cook and Oliver would appreciate it.

I thought he came as an attacking midfield player.

Luton like Huddersfield had their chance of getting into the PL last season. Not happening this for them.

I think he came as a winger Dave. But I think he could play as a 10 in Walker's absence.

Banks and Dion on the same pitch. Wow that would be interesting.

Agree I can't see either of them competing for a play off place.
