    I don’t really see where a big signing would be required at this stage. We brought in 2 keepers, 3 CBs, 4 CMs, and 3 strikers. Perhaps we may bring in a quality winger but besides that I dont see it making much sense

    C'mon Fordy.We absolutely have to have outgoings now. I don't know anything about our signings but it looks as though Mark feels he is building a balanced squad capable of moving up now and continuing with that improvement.Time will tell if that works out but until then, how can we knock the judgement of him and his team? One thing for sure; we are going for it now!

    I get where you're coming from Fordy. We've all had high hopes in previous years only to have them knocked down later. But credit to Hughes et al. He's done a lot of business transforming the squad and it looks more balanced; he's brought in some additional quality which we've been short of; he's done it early and stolen a march on some other terms and he hasn't been scratting around in the leftovers bin to make up the numbers. And now he has to finalise it by moving on a couple and getting some more out on loan to give them some gametime.

    Is the squad good enough to get promoted? Who knows and it may turn out like other seasons when things haven't panned out as we'd all hoped. But the building blocks look to be in the right places. Now Hughes and Hodges have to get the squad working well together and turn the squad's potential into the results we need to be promoted. That will be the acid test. I think the signs are encouraging at this stage.

    Now we have 14 new signings onboard, big job ahead now for Hughes and Hodges to try and work out their best starting X1 and formation.

    Great to see most, if not all, our incoming business done 3 weeks before the big kick-off

    Yet you have Gilli as a CM.....and Songoo as a CB. Who is primarily a DM. Defying your own logic on Oscar, Staunton, FCD etc.

    Threlkeld operated at RB for Plymouth btw.

    The Squad needs to be trimmed but the question is who do we let go. Some of the younger ones on loan perhaps Threlkeld and Kelleher but do we release Cook or keep him. Or will he want to stay

    My own thoughts are - we should be cautious with our optimism. Which isn't to say we shouldn't be optimistic. But there are several on there who aren't good enough and many who are unproven.

    The squad has seen a big change around. We shouldn't lose our sh*t if we start slowly.

    Most of last seasons dross gone or about to go. Replaced with what seems better quality players. 2+year plan set now. Building a squad that can be built around after promotion to league 1. Signings who have comfortably played at league 1 standard already.
    Further signings in areas the fans have identified as being weak. Still weeks until the transfer window shuts and we have literally done all our incomings. Cannot recall the last time that happened? Can you?

    We are looking a quick mobile interchangeable team who can quickly and effectively adapt to differing tactics during a game.

    You are allowed to get a little bit excited even if you have to self flagellate straight afterwards.
