To true Dave, but as the years catch up, there's a lot to be said for luxuries like padded seats, lifts, decent toilets with hand dryers and hot water. Gone are the days when " a ground improvement " was sticking a corrugated iron roof on the open air urinals behind the old Chicken Run. :)

I can do that with the Grand Canyon but pictures on a computer screen don’t have the same effect as witnessing something in person. Especially with someone like Mark Hughes giving you the guided tour and his opinions on playing in big stadia.

I agree. I wouldnt go for a job interview and accept a position without seeing my place of work...

I did giggle at you using the Grand Canyon as an example though. Lol. I get the sentiment!!!

We're only seeing glimpses of Hughes' thinking at the moment but I thought it was interesting when Scales came on that he played quite a deep role. He also moved around quite a bit. He seems to have some confidence about what he was doing. East seemed to stay more towards the left side of the pitch when he was on.

Interesting also that FCD went to centre back in the second half. He looks more suited to centre back and we shouldn't be trying to shoe horn him into right back just to fill a role. He looked far less confident trying to control passes close to the touchline and lay off quickly. I'm not sure how quick he is though. Neither him or Staunton look that pacey but everyone looked quite leggy yesterday aside from Young and Chapman so it's hard to tell.

Both Staunton and FCD are centre backs, it’s as clear as day watching them, I’m not saying they’re good enough for our ambitions however that’s another argument.

I remember making the point about FCD last season and got stuck for it just because he’s played a few games for Northern Ireland kids there, it’s plain as day he’s a centre back in reality the lad has got time at RB because it’s been a problem area. It’s probably stunted his development tbh because there may have been times he’d have got a go at CB if he’d not been put there in the first place.

Away end at Gillingham is exactly the same . You have to walk up a long terraced street to the turnstiles with no option to turn left or right! You are trapped essentially
It was rank in those days…I went to the cup game…..

I wasn't sure who the keeper was but you're correct it was Tommo.

A position Staunton played many times under McCall, but I was pleasently suprised to see FCD go there.

That sounded really impressive until I remembered Luton were in the championship!

Never understood how the pitch was so churned up that night , they must have watered it all week, they knew that we would beat them if it was a football match.

I've never understood the argument that because it's Bradford, we are at some sort of disadvantage when it comes to attracting players. There are some beautiful places to live within a 20 mile radius and Leeds and Manchester within very easy reach for when they might want to sample some decent bars, eateries and shopping. It's not as unattractive an option as some like to make out.

It’s just a nonsense, I know some professions require you to live within 90 minutes commute of where you’re based, usually the transport sector. But never that for footballers, even if there was a rule as you say there are many beautiful places to live within 90 minutes.
