That was bad, but worse were the days when our recruitment was so unplanned that it was dependent on us bringing in half a dozen trialists for each pre season game and hoping at least a few of them turned out to be OK. Dark days.

 

Think I saw someone mention George Moncur on here recently, he's just signed for Leyton Orient, very good at this level.

Think it was @Bradford End who mentioned him. Had a bid rejected I believe? More than happy with smallwood and our window in general either way!

What is interesting though is the apparent firesale that hull have had.. Smallwood, moncur, honeyman and lewis-potter! Lot of good players leaving that team.. wonder why?

 

Think they're bringing in a lot of European players, just signed a Portuguese midfielder from Forest and have been linked with some Turkish players. All to do with the new ownership and manager. How we all know that moves like that, can either go right or very wrong. I suspect as well Moncur to Orient was very much pushed by him probably wanting to move back down south.

 

Triffic signing. Would have loved him here.

 

Just had a look and he only made 14 league appearances last year and didn't feature at all from February.

Maybe the championship was slightly above his level or maybe Hull simply had better players in his position but at 28 and with his career record he definitely looks like a great signing for league two.

Edit - just been reading that he's been very injury prone throughout his career. Perhaps that's why he's had to drop as low as this setting as he apparently wanted to be local to family in the Leyton area too.

Wellens

 

Sounds like if they can manage him well and keep him fit he'll be a very good signing. He should be happy with family around him so if they get on a roll early he could be one to watch this year.

 

After they appointed Wellens, they finished the season superbly. They have managed to keep almost all of their better players and look like they will have a very good season.
