Would a regular Championship player want to drop into League Two for wages we could afford ?

 

Can’t see it myself, I was reading up on him earlier and one of the articles suggested he was offered a new one year deal at hull but wanted a longer term deal so that’s why they parted ways, so maybe we could offer him more stability ?

 

Heard the rumour, but really can't see it - for either of the reasons you've suggeested.

 

As much as I would love this to happen, it is surely a rumour that has zero chance of happening.

You are probably on the right lines.

Fans who are expecting so called marquee signings are going to be disappointed.

I think we will bring in 2 or 3 more on the lines of what we have seen so far, and perhaps a couple of loans toward the end of the transfer window

Just listened to the city vent podcast, who had Sparks on as a guest. Without saying it in so many words, he pretty much confirmed Hornby will be leaving, as he said Doyle will be number 2 pushing for number 1. He also said half a dozen of the youth team have been offered contracts, including the goalkeeper, who Doyle will be coaching. In terms of recruitment, we can expect a fair few more ins and some outs as well.

Why can't Sparks close his mouth and leave the football side of things to Hughes? Who'll be No 1 keeper and any assessments as to whether anyone is pushing to be No1 should be made by others.

 

Wouldn’t Sparks know whether a player joining the club would be a first team player or squad player based on the wages being agreed? How that player performs on the pitch or in training will help Hughes decide whether he actually gets in the team or not. Sparks won't blow a fortune on wages and expect them to sit in the stand.
The recruitment team will have to justify to Sparks where they see a player will be in the squad, so I'd imagine Ryan is fully up to speed on why any player is joining, leaving or re-signing.
