Yes it was a question, "Have we, so you don't know just another of your guesses , why would we have taken it up months ago he's only been back from injury a matter of weeks, and not played full games.

 

The answer is NO then! Silly question.

Clubs tend to take up the year option to keep the value of player if a club desperately wants him.

I'd say what Vernam has shown since his return from injury is IMO worth another 12 month contract.

 

That I agree but more than likely he has a club lined up and far down the line in signing for them.

 

Summer shopping list:

Jonathan Williams - out of contract at Swindon this summer. Surprised he dropped to L2 in the first place, only 28, welsh international, maybe the Hughes Wales link could be leveraged…? An excellent midfielder at this level.

Max Clark - Left Back at Rochdale. Out of contract. Plenty of higher league experience.

Bahamboula - out of contract at Oldham. No way he’ll stay. He’s looked immense whenever I’ve seen him play, but no idea about his fitness record or mentality

Emyr Huws - been at Colchester since Jan after being released by Ipswich, I believe he rocked up at Colchester to prove his fitness. another with Welsh caps, he came through at Man City when Hughes was there, plenty of Championship experience, only 28.

David Kiellor-Dunn - only 24, out of contract at Oldham, a regular scorer of goals from midfield in a poor side. I’ve always been impressed by him when we’ve played Oldham.

Sam Vokes - likely out of our range and he’s been a regular at Wycombe. But he’s 32, out of contract and if Wycombe go up, maybe the welsh connection with Hughes could attract him…

Kabongo Tshimanga - never gonna happen, but if Chesterfield don’t go up, I’d love us to get this guy. We’d have to pay a pretty penny, but he’d have massive resale potential.

 

had completely forgotten about him. Lets hope he recovers fully!

 

from that list, would like to see Davis Keilor-Dunn here for sure, always impressed me too.

Jonny Williams is a class act at this level, this is the first time in his career he has played more than 30 games, he has had terrible luck with injuries, so if he has overcome the injury jinx, definitely take a punt on him for sure.

Not so sure about the others though, discounting Tshimanga, as we couldnt afford him

 

As yourself I've been impressed with the lad
Bahamboula whos still only 26 when I've seen him play.

 

I’ll buy the North Sea and all it’s contents if Robinson is retained.

 

Dom Telford is one we should be looking at 25 goals this season

Only the one season he's hit double figures but certainly impressive this season at Newport 24 goals in 27 apprrances.

I wouldn’t claim to know a huge amount about backgrounds, injury records etc. I’m hoping we do our homework though, as we don’t want to be signing players with long standing fitness issues.

Think we might have a new keeper zac Hemings was at Kilmarnock all last season on loan from middlesborough

 

I heard that Robbie Savages Lad is coming on a year long Loan. Not sure if that is true but if that’s the kind of signing we’re after then that will do for me.
