Gillead averages about 3 a season so hope the other two have their shooting boots on.

Eisa might get there if he played every game but that would make it even more difficult for the other 3 due to limited game time.

I'm not convinced there's enough there and we need Cooke to contribute more goals from that attacking role.

 

Vernham is not good enough based on anything I saw last season. Crankshaw could come on but doesn't look like a goals merchant. Eisa / Gillead and Cooke (if they play together) need to all contribute.

And at the start of last season, Morecambe were bookies favorites for the big National League drop.

 

75 way too high. Nobody got that last year,Cambridge just fell short with Mullin getting 30+!!! The year before the same!

Goals win games, clean sheets win titles.

 

Unless we suddenly have someone striking gold, like Cambridge did last year, then I think we may well be looking at several 1-0 results this season. I think Adams will have the team sorted out defensively and capable of holding out for a result just as long as we can put one in the other end.

 

You need goals and clean sheets, no use drawing 0-0 and losing 5-4. Look at years before the pandemic, 70-75 about right, maybe a bit too high. Lowest goals scored in the top three is about an average of 68-69. I still maintain the current side doesn’t have enough goals in it.

there are some real oddities, 09/10 Bournemouth were second, GF 61 GA 44. Notts County won the division GF 96 GA 31. Look at those two teams trajectories in the last decade. Premier League and non League.

 

If Angol proves the early season isn’t a mirage then I can’t see Eisa getting much game time

 

20+ plus for Cook, 10+ plus for Angol. That leaves 30+ for all our other outfield players to score, if you used this equation. But speculative stats mean bugger all. If we ended up with one of the best defensive records in L2, we might need to score many fewer goals. And you just don't know who'll come to the party, with this new manager and new tactics. Adams got Cole Stockton scoring way, way more goals than he'd ever done last season for Morecambe.

How do you work that out?

 

Educated guess. He’s done it 3 times in his career. All in the conference. He’s played 5 seasons in the football league and the most goals he got in 43 games was 13.
I’d love it if he did but I can’t see it.

 

TBF he would have finished on around 17 last term in a full season with us. Not a million miles off. Id say late teens is most realistic.

 

And that was in a side that was hardly oozing with quality yet he found the back of the net consistanly, I'd be delighted if he finishes in the high teens.

 

Can we just get the season started, please.
