Absolutely agree. I'd make it league three and ring fence it below. Possibly regionalise league two and national league as north and south

 

Seem to remember a vocal few on here a year ago suggested a season or two down there would be in City's best interests.

Yep, with you on that. Beyond that, the crazy thing is that there are a few clubs in the current National North and South Leagues (Tier 6) that are fully professional, and many others that have a smattering of pros, then semi-pros and money and expenses per match players. In truth, it's testament to how amazing the football pyramid is in this country - no other country touches our football involvement.

 

Same with our players, one of two may feel that they can't work with Adams and end up asking their agents to find them another club. Caravan said Adams is very demanding and if you don't buy into what he expects of you then you are out.
personally I don't have a problem with that, we've had too much under achieving since Parkinson left.

Songo'o made the same comment even if you play well on the Saturday and train well during the week there is no guarantee Adams will select you the next game.

Halifax went into oblivion reformed and then climbed the league’s until they got to the National league. Chester and York are indeed still stuck in conference north.

Hereford's another. Wound up after some exceedingly dodgy ownership, and started life again as a phoenix club in the Midlands League (I think it was). They rocketed up to Conf. North, and now are stalled there.

He got 15 this year which was a great return but before that he's failed to score in 20 appearances at league level.

Given that he's 28 I'm not sure there's that many clubs would have been pushing the boat out to bring him in as his record suggests the National League is about his level.

 

Considering Quigley has just proven himself at League Two level id suggest League Two is infact his level.

 

As I said yesterday, he's signed a 3 year deal. I'm sure there will have been interest from league clubs but no way will any of them have been offering that sort of security.

 

One decent season doesn't mean you're "proven", just as failing for a season doesn't mean you're not good enough for that level.

That response is far too knee jerk and I'd have thought you'd have learnt your lesson after the recent Jesse Lingard humiliation.

 

Yup. My daughter's fiancee has played for several clubs in National League South for the past seven years. He has a full time professional IT job with Tesco but has been paid a pretty decent second salary by whichever club he's been at, for training two nights a week and playing on Saturday. As you say, most of his teammates are also semi-pro, but for a few - probably forwards, I guess, who'll be paid more - it's their sole income.

 

Definitely. There won't be many 3 year deals handed out across the entire bottom two divisions. Quigley has certainly grabbed himself a great deal.

Well what is it then? Unproven? You are saying he is unproven at League Two level despite having a successful season at that level? Your opinion is he isn't proven, the facts suggest he is - what more can he do? And it was last season so that only adds further weight to the argument.

Lingard didnt go to the Euros. He wasn't deemed good enough for the final squad so I would say I was pretty vindicated. He only got his initial recall because of injuries to Grealish, Maddison, Barnes and a couple of others. Then again in a 26 man squad and a 33 man squad recently.

A purple patch of 12 games in 3 years also adds weight.....he finished the season on a wimper, back to his normal self.
