Summer 2021 Transfers

it is hard to find diamonds in the NL but logically would be a good step up to L2. Heard that Timishanga from boreham wood is off to leyton orient who I think will do a good job there.

I would like to know our recruitment strategy though now. looking back it was to go for known decent players who were past their peak (vaughan, donaldson and novak?) which i think was a mistake. Think our last number nine that was under the age of 25 was Wyke!

 

I fully expect ROD to leave. I don't think he wants to be back up keeper.

 

possibly, i haven't seen a player so in love with city though. And he is 32.

 

Who says he will be? It wouldn't surprise me at all for ROD to start the season as first choice.

Look, like it or not in Div 2 this club is a BIG CLUB. We can't be an apprentice for a players. I see nothing wrong with letting non league players try to prove them at other clubs first before coming to us.

Yes or 2 will prove successful but we are not MORECAMBE! We need players that can handle the pressure of VP! Its not easy.

 

Pleased Hornby has signed. We have two decent keepers, both with strengths and weaknesses like all keepers at this level. No clear number one but that competition is only healthy.

 

I bloody hope not. Unless Adams makes him spend most of pre-season practicing how to step out of his 6 yard box and catch crosses.

 

That's why Cheltenham got a PL keeper on loan.

League 2 or not mate, it vital you have a top keeper in goals.

Agree. Would have been hard to bring another teams number 1 here - would have cost money.

We could have taken a punt on a keeper who'd been released but it would have been a gamble whereas we know these two and I think both will perform better with a better organised defence in front of them and hopefully with a better organised attack we'll do less defending!

 

Bet you a pint, on the basis Hornby does sign a contract in advance , he doesn’t.

Adam’s wording makes me feel Hornby will be number 1.
I wouldn’t of ROD moved on, if better competition came in.

 

If we're signing Hornby by promising him he's staying as first choice then I'd be massively worried.

Neither keeper is sufficiently good enough to be promised that.

Who said he was given a promise? , that’s not the way contracts work.
