When Gilly did that run, it jogged my memory that we signed him on loan when he was a winger for Newcastle Utd. He really should do it more. 106 appearances for us, 2 goals.

 

I don't think Hughes likes anyone running with the ball. It used to be a feature of Sutton's game as well but it's been coached out of him it seems.

That feature went from Sutton's game after he had covid last year.

 

The popular opinion seems to be Cook needs to start but I’d like to see Oliver when Banks and Walker are back.

losing Wright was a big loss. Our next best winger is Banks - who is also far too good for League 2.

Get him running at the oppo and cutting balls back from the byline like Wright did, and we’ll see a better side. Not fully convinced on Eisa or Costello

 

I'd like to have an update on Banks's injury....ie, does he have one or not? Is he another player MH has frozen out?

Just busy with life buddy, work, kids and also been venturing to a few places abroad too.

 

Such is the distrust in Hughes now, that some think he'd be daft enough to freeze out a player who be recalled in an instant by Palace and sent elsewhere.

If you bothered to listen or read his press conferences he stated last week that Banks was nearly fit, but would be about (by now) another few days.

He did something unusual to behind his shin but not his calf. I remember Hughes trying to explain it.

That said, he was under used prior to that for me and many times didn't even get a spot on the bench when he'd often looked our most threatening player. I thought he deserved more game time. Can take a good corner ad well.
