Stephen Darby

It would be nice to have a rendition of Steven Darby baby during games both home and away, and to keep this horrible disease in the public eye and raise awareness. Also the fact that he gave his all when wearing the shirt.

 

Life can be so cruel I've been lucky in life finding my Prostrate cancer early both hips replaced within 12 months and this kid gets this horrible terminal diagnosis.
I keep going on about Parkys time at the club and what he brought to Valley Parade but for me they were very special times he generated a great atmosohere pulling the fans together and produced a team that never knew when they were beaten and Stephan Darby was very much a player of that mode, some wonderfully memories and Stephan Darby played a big part of that era where we Bradford City fans could hold our heads up knowing no matter who we were playing we were in with a shout.

 

Im 42yrs old and been supporting City since 7yrs old and still think the period of Parky years is my favourite as a city fan. Darby was a huge part of that. I remember a video of him signing on the coach after one of our big victories at that time, and it epitomised his desire for the club.

I genuinely find the whole situation he’s in really difficult to watch and read about as makes me quite emotional. A terrible, terrible disease for anyone, but especially sad to see such a great man like him be going through what he is.

 

100% agree and had to express my feeling like yourself, how the lad and his family cope is beyond belief as my head completely went when my consultant said I had prostrate cancer, another doctor took me and my wife into another room and started to explain the situation as he said the majority of people given a cancer diagnosis don't take what the consultant was saying, luckily mine was caught early.

 

It's an illness with unparalleled cruelty. His bravery is inspirational.

 

I still think of Darbs on the supporters coach, post match at Stamford Bridge and this article brought tears to my eyes. The stat 1 in 300 is frightening. We can only hope that the legacy of the efforts of the likes of him, Rob and the Leeds gentleman who went up Snowdonia and all sorts of other escapades can help others in the future.
