I'm the same, at very least I don't see why they would do it for 1 Oxford game and not the other. It'll be interesting to read the reasons from the panel when they are released to see how the information came about for the 2 other charges. The FA will be very interested in the written reason as well to see who knew what and I wouldn't be surprised if individual charges followed

Maybe not but they watched us very closely for 90 minutes just a few days before...

The EFL will find some way of getting Wrexham in the final.

They should strip them of the FA.Cup from 1976 as they cheated then as well

So which of Manchester City's 20 major honours are the PL taking back?

It's completely over the top, massively disproportionate and I honestly don't think it'll stand. I'm fully expecting Southampton to be competing in the PO Final when it's eventually played.

They've only got themselves to blame for being arrogant enough to think they can get away with it on more than 1 occasion. Any other punishment other than expelling them from the play offs isn't a deterrent from another team doing it next year.

I think it was stupidity and laziness rather than arrogance.

    So you're saying a £2.5M fine and a 12 point deduction isn't a deterrent? Really?

Anyway, I've said my piece. Let's wait for the final outcome.

Many Southampton fans on their forum in meltdown, not because of the decision, but because of the blatant cheating by their club, and are rightly seething over the shocking adverse publicity this has brought on their club.

Once again fans suffer due to the actions of owners and management.

The problem with a points deduction with no expulsion from the play offs is that if they get promoted then it's another legal battle as to whether the Premier League should apply it. It also doesn't help Middlesbrough who have been the victim of this.

I can't argue with that but for me it doesn't justify the harshness of the penalty.

It'll be a huge legal minefield with the decision they've taken. Suggesting that it could cause issues further down the line isn't grounds to make any kind of judgement on penalties.

As more and more seems to be slipping out from the investigation, it sounds like it was an Southampton staff members texts messages that has had the most evidence so far. Dunno if these were requested as part of it or leak or someone from Southampton just came forward and dobbed them in, but a lot of of the investigations evidence has come from internal messages.

Sounds like the Southampton boss is the guy who sets the spying up, wonder if he'll be asked to resign at all after all this?

This is from the local Southampton paper, the CEO has probably got to say that but it does seem a few people think they will have a case.

Talksport are reporting that Eckert is going to be sacked by the club and he's going to receive and FA ban. Their ownership are furious and they are also saying sponsors of the club are seeking options on pulling their brands from Southampton off the back of all this. Their source has said the Southampton players are very angry with the conduct and are considering legal action of their own.

If this doesnt get overturned, surely the club have to refund all the fans who have forked out for non refundable travel and hotel.

As for their shifty looking manager, he has to be sacked which ever way the decision goes?

You'd hope so. Sky were explaining yesterday that when the tickets were on sale, Southampton really made a point of asking fans to understand the T&Cs of the ticket sales. They were saying all refunds on tickets should be made, but with all the bad PR they are getting from this, sponsors threating to leave, their own players wanting to take legal action against the club, they surely cant take another own goal and not refund the fans?

It sounds like he is going to be gone in no time and I'd be amazed if he gets another good level job in the near future.
