I might have asked this before but if the site does crash it would be great if you just take a step away from your keyboard and grab yourself a beer for a few minutes.

When people just hit refresh over and over again it just compounds the issue and makes it harder for me to resolve it as it even slows down me accessing the server via command line. As well as an increase in real users we had a massive influx of malicious users and I was having trouble even outputting the list of potentially malicious IP's to go through and then an age to then import these IP's into the firewall to block them. Even a reboot to try and make it respond was seeing both CPU's and the RAM hit 100% usage within 2 seconds of it coming back up

 

No bots. While legit ones like the Google search engine ones do so in a considerate manner the less legit ones such as those for content farms or non-mainstream LLMs or ones from countries who don't care really overload servers. And then you have those looking to slow sites down just to be annoying or to try and find exploits. Most of these come from servers in China, Russia,Hong Kong, Singapore and Israel

 

Certain usergroups such as supporters are supposed to have stylised username as a perk but it's bugged and only works on a small number of those people. I've never been able to identify a commonality between those its working on and those it isn't
