Johnson has played a part of a game twice this calendar year. On the 1/1/2024 he was subbed and on his return on 27/4/2024, he was again subbed.

Mansfield felt he was surplus to their requirements.

Someone on here said he was injured ‘pre season’. I offer an alternative, he wasn’t fit to train, and it was hardly very surprising he re injured himself.

He is taking a salary, which is a risk most clubs know, but he had a history, so it seems somewhat naive offering him a full unconditional contract. Perhaps an alternative would have been to allow him to train, paying a small salary and if he returned to fitness, then increase the salary and register him as a player.

That neatly leads onto the fact that he is one of the 22 Senior outfield players, so a long standing drain on the squad depth.

I know nothing of him and he may well be a great individual, but he isn’t here to ‘be our mate’, he has bombed totally as a player.

Given that we are now virtually into winter, the temperature will continue to be cold, the surfaces of pitches heavy, then the potential for Johnson to suffer further injury, if/when he returns must be greater. I wonder if he would be able to psychologically commit to 100% football, when there must be a fear of a further injury and quite likely a career ending consequence.

I believe that both clubs and players (through the PFA?) have injury insurance policies. Perhaps the best for all concerned is to ‘deregister’ him. He could remain on his basic salary until it expired (Rupp promised an injection of money, this is a legitimate use) and City could seek a replacement Senior player, not necessarily a right sided defensive player.

At the moment we are stuck with a player who is offering zilch, and is taking up a ‘senior player’ slot. Time to resolve the issue.

Does insurance cover what may be classed as “a pre-existing condition”?

Go on then. Why pick Tye out for special opprobrium? Clearly playing with an injury when he was subbed before half time at the last hone game. Everybody seemed pleased when he became a permanent signing after his performances last year. Anything in particular ghat bothers you?

Jake Reeves. A player brought back from injury before he was ready, exacerbating the injury and keeping him out for nearly 2 years. The club and manager were culpable, which is why they couldn't pay him off sooner, without risking a lawsuit. Sorry, just can't stand the revisionist view of history

Ok "Bryan Groom" i'll bite...have I not simply listed him along with all the others? So he isn't getting special anything is he(!)

But for the record, while we are talking about him, he's been firmly bang average for us since the start of the season. When he first signed on loan for us, he told us about his blistering pace and how he loves to take on defenders. Rarely happens regardless of what position he plays, and it is extremely frustrating to watch as players like him have the potential to put the shits up the opposition but then hesitate and pull back. That isn't down to injury or managers instructions is it

I've no doubt that Wright has potential, but he really doesn't seem to want to use it. There's a very good reason that Plymouth got shut of him again, I will trust their judgement that he can't cut it at a higher level (maybe he would in the future, who knows?)

What are you even talking about. Reeves wasn't physically injured, it was a mental health issue. Get with it

I didn’t hear anything from GA yesterday, but thought at the time ok injury he was going to out for the majority of the season. When clubs don’t say much about injuries you know it’s a bad en.

I would suggest it's no coincidence that our early decent form was when we had Sarce in the team. Even if he didn't set the world alight, he probably is a big character in the team and his experience is useful.

I'll be pleased when he's back on the pitch.

Scarce was an integral part of our promotion teams over the last 3 years, your right about his character, born winner, wish he’d accepted our one year deal.

Showed nothing in his first few matches for us.

Dare I say there was even an element of liability about him

I disagree with you on this.

I thought Sarcevic looked a class act in those first few games before his injury.

He was particularly impressive for the first hour of our opening day win at MK Dons before tiring.

I'm looking forward to his return to full fitness. It would be a good boost for him to manage some minutes on his return to Edgeley Park tomorrow
