My contract with Virgin is up and they are not playing ball with offering a decent price for renewal, even going through to the retention team so I’m looking at Sky.

I use to have Sky about 8 years ago when it was satellite but now it is Sky Stream so my question is is it any good and reliable as we will still be on old style broadband, looking at 1gb, I noticed you don’t get the option to record programs anymore but has anything else really changed?

    thanks in advance

We have Sky Stream after we ditched Virgin too.
It is reliable for us, we have had no issues.
It might just be us but I really miss being able to record stuff.
The Sky menu is not very intuitive. You keep having to go to Apps like iplayer to find stuff. One thing I really hate is if you want to watch the latest episode of a long running programme it will give you all the series and episodes with no clue as to the most recent and it takes a while to find it.
It is loads cheaper at the moment though.
Brsk is now in our area now, but it isn't the broadband that's the issue for us.

I have just renewed with Virgin after seriously considering Sky Stream. What eventually put me off was the numerous reports of excessive buffering when I looked at the reviews. Eventually Virgin came up with an acceptable deal after an hour or two haggling

Whatever you do don't touch the Glass TV's. Rather than using their buying power to get good panels they have cheaper out with worse viewing angles and low nits of brightness. A under £300 Hisense will perform better. The only good point is the sound which is much better than on most TV's although I believe the cheaper Glass Air sound isn't anywhere near as good full Glass

The service works pretty well. You add everything you want to watch to a playlist and it then basically acts like your recorded section on traditional Sky. It does jump into the various streaming apps most of the time although things that don't have an app Sky record on their servers and it plays that out. There are sometimes issues as @Allotment Bantam@Allotment Bantam with longer running shows where it can add every single episode ever and it can get confused about what the latest one is. And it can sometimes show you episodes on services you don't have but it doesn't happen as much as it used to.

They finally came back and offered me the exact same package I'm on now for £8 less than I'm currently paying. They did this when I said I just needed to sort dates out with Sky. 2,25 hours on chat in total, mostly waiting for them to check stuff or ask the same questions. To be honest I would have been happy with either the same price or even slightly more so I'm not going to complain about a reduction. Even with the two built in price rises during the length of the deal I will end the deal paying the same as what I am paying now.
