Who would ever thought …Arsenal complaining about fouls at set pieces . Hypocrisy at its finest ?

Clearly the right decision but this happens 10+ times every game throughout football and nothing is done to stop it .

The football authorities have only themselves to blame by allowing corners , especially, to become a free-for- all rugby scrum , in fact rugby scrums are far more disciplined !

    Solutions?

    Peter Schmeichel:
“That’s how they’ve scored so many goals, by blocking people, holding people, doing all kinds of things. And then we get to this point, it takes VAR five minutes, Darren England the VAR, it takes five minutes. He starts it over again and starts it over again and again… that in itself puts so much doubt into that decision that it cannot be a free-kick.

I think it’s so wrong. I just don’t understand why all of a sudden that’s a free-kick, because it’s not been for any teams all the way throughout the season. All this, it’s just crazy. And that decision today, it’s just so wrong on so many levels.”

Spot on. Seventeen, yes, seventeen replays to decide it was a foul. Utterly absurd. And there were at least three Arsenal defenders committing simultaneous fouls as the corner was taken. West Ham were robbed.

That’s seventeen replays watched by the match referee. Not counting the two and a half minutes of replays before that by the VAR official. It’s beyond ridiculous.

Agree. I thought they were only supposed to give fouls if it was clear and obvious? If you have to look 17 times, I am sorry that is ridiculous. In my view he had his arm up as there was a lot of pushing and shoving going on, but why limit to one incident there were several instances going off why pick on that one?

It is one of my gripes. It is happening all the time now. A corner is given and straight away both teams are grappling for the best position so he blow his whistle goes across and gives them a lecture for 3 minutes goes back to his spot. The players go back to grappling and he blow his whistle and the corner is taken.

Plus, why consult the ref again? If VAR are making the decision then so be it although I would be against that. The time it takes is mind blowing. I would give them 3 mins that is it, if they can’t make a decision then the onfield ref’s decision stands.
