The 2 situations are caused by mismanagement and the powers thst be not Sky .............i aint sticking up for them by no means they pander to the elite but they cannot be blamed for clubs running up huge debts to achieve the dream

The cuisine on offer in the suites was rubbish over the last two years. So hopefully the new catering will have a much better menu.

Of course the directors of clubs have a responsibility to run the club correctly
But no stupid Sky monies, no parachute payments, no ridiculous transfer fees and wages
The game would be in a far better position
With clubs living within their means and not chasing that dream
It would also be a better competition with clubs on a more equal footing
Unfortunately for me , their doesn’t seem to be and end to the money merygoround

I kinda agree with your sentiment but the truth is football has never been bigger than it is now either nationally or globally. Part of me is in your camp in the cost of things like tickets and football shirts but the world has changed over the last 40 odd years of me watching the game, if you don't change with it you get left behind.
Sky for all their faults helped move football forward in terms of broadcasting and marketing, it's not that football didn't exist before it but it was an era of change with cable and satellite TV expanding and football had to change with it. We all love a bit of nostalgia and rose tinted specs viewing but when you think back all that way was football really better for everyone as opposed to just a men's working class entertainment on a Saturday afternoon, hooliganism, stadiums not for any purpose, facilities that bore no meaning to the word?. Now we see an effort to attract women and families, minorities groups where games were a no no due to abuse.
I don't think it's Sky to blame so much for the problems in football, that's more down to the governance and running of the game allowing owners of clubs to run roughshod over the sport itself.

That’s fair enough and yes the match day experience is so much better than the 70’s when I first rocked up at VP
But look at this summer and the World Cup
Prices of everything are just designed to milk the fan of every £ they can
Most fans are priced out of attending
You are quite correct the governing bodies should have better control over it, but unfortunately too many of the officials have their noses right in the trough

not been for a proper sit down meal in the banqueting part but have seen the food served up in the Hendrix/McCall suites and to be honest I’m not sure what else they can do except pie and chips and nuggets for the kids.

plates always seem empty on the tables but the queues do seem big for the food.

will be interesting to see if they do change the options available.

one thing I think the could look at is doing a preorder option both for food and drinks for half time, a bit like at the theatre, that way the queues would be reduced at half time

16,351 sold in early bird period. Record amount apparently for the early window.

Given 1700+ newbies thought it might've been a tad higher (consider last years 16,100 total) but a great effort nonetheless.

it would be interesting to see how many of the 25 year holders haven’t renewed. For no real reason except weird interest

I very rarely eat food I haven’t prepared; it was quite a shock. We tried the pie but it was salty and the pastry heavy. That was it. Even the chips are dry. I have seen ppl empty their plate so ppl do like it. I usually have the odd glass of something but too bad if I hungry

I think it is cooking and storage issue causing things like the dry chips as they have to be cooked on mass a couple of floors up and the transferred down and let warm under the lights until sold. Not sure how changing the supplier is going to change things like that for the suites as there are no cooking facilities down there.
Might make some difference on the other floors for the actual sit down food where it is cooked and served straight away

My lads best mate was in corporate on Saturday, their mates family sponsor something at the club. Meal sounded appetising enough as I wouldn't be expecting gourmet food at a corporate shindig. That said if I was going to a suite at a sporting event and they were serving up pie and chips or similar I'd be very disappointed. Even decent food vans these days can serve up better fayre than that.

This fan zone on Darley st I believe. Is it the club that runs it and takes the profits?

as I said the problem is there are no cooking facilities or anywhere to put them without rebuilding the Hendrie/McCall suite so the food is cooked elsewhere and brought down and sold from under hot lights. It is basically just kept warm and the food is no better than on the concourse.

It is fantastic, but interestingly with 1700 new tickets, that means approximately 1400 from last season have not re-newed, which after the two seasons we have had seems high , even accounting for change in circumstances
My business and I would be looking into it
