Surely that caption should say “Bronco’s boots”? Sorry Dave but I imagine your first ever pair looked a bit similar, I think my first ones were below the ankle (mid 60’s). Anyway, those up there are nowt like the things they wear now,!

Now they were proper boots, with leather studs that you had to hammer in,and hope the nails did not come up though the sole. You had to smother them in dubbing,to try and make them water resistant.Mind you,the leather balls we used then would reduce modern boots to tatters in ten minutes

I remember as a lad at St. Clare’s, having to put dub in on the game balls.

Odour of Dubbin and Wintergreen in the changing room before a game was a heady mixture

Dextrose or Dexedrine? Very different but both would provide a bit of a 2nd half boost! ;)

That’s it or something very similar. They came in a packet about the size of the old 20 packet of cigs.
    Good call Dennis.

No problem mate hard to believe my first pair of football boots were very similar to these in this picture, you always carried a hammer and spare studs in your bag, after hammering them in the same 3 holes after a while they would not hold in they has to be rotated slightly so the new studs would stay in your boots, always cleaned them after a game and gave them a good "dubbing".

Watching games and the "boots" modern day players are wearing they have little or no protection around the heal, on watching a slow motion replay is there any wonder players get foot related injuries.

It's been downhill all the way since Kevin Keegan started wearing those kangaroo leather Stylo Matchmakers
