He's going with the three centre backs because we dont suit a 4 4 2 with our players. Doesn't matter which formation he goes with, the defensive players are simply not good enough.

 

Those highlights are embarrassing. Evans didn’t even look to be trying...rushed back In and not fit. Baffles me why a McCall goes on radio Leeds and continually makes excuses for them, it just means he loses credibility, I get not naming names but the likes of Donaldson and BRE are a waste of a wage and an embarrassment to the shirt. That formation does appear to leave us wide open when we don’t have our first eleven starting eg those named as missing yesterday.

 

Why does it not suit us, We have full backs he keeps trying to make in to wing backs even though obvious they struggle playing the system and 4 centre backs to choose from?

 

Because both Wood and Hosannah look a good bet going forward. Theres a fixation with 4-4-2, it worked for Parky but most fans apart from ours hate him and his footy. If our 3 centre backs do the job they are paid to do then 3-5-2 works. Unfortunately they are not up to the task, neither are they up to playing 4-4-2

We will have to disagree, our full backs are decent as full backs, It is having to play as wing backs that give us problems because if they do not get back we have wide open spaces for the opposition to exploit, There is a reason that the majority of successful sides play 4 at the back and that is because it works at helping keep a blank scoresheet.

 

4-4-2 would be even worse with this squad. Our defenders aren't good enough, so we need to go with 3 of them rather than 2. We've got no wingers unless you want to play a sicknote or god forbid, DMH. And we're too weak in midfield to only go with 2 in there. 3-5-2 is probably best for the type of personnel available, they're just very poor players to make it work.

Nowt wrong with playing a flat back 4 if you have the personnel to do it. We don't at this moment in time, in fact the squad we have doesn't suit 4-4-2 at all. I'll be honest i'm not sure what it suit which shows up the transfer policy for the amatuerish shambles that it is.

Half the team looks asleep, especially Wood for the first two goals, BRE looks like he won his place in a raffle and the rest of the team look like they're wearing lead boots, Evans in particular.

If someone told me those highlights came from a Northern League game I wouldn' be surprised. In fact I'd assume it was a relegation battle where one team had been out on the razzle the night before.

 

And yet after letting 3 goals playing 3 at the back we changed at half time to a flat back four and they never looked like adding to the score and we kept a clean sheet at last looking like a team

 

City’s best teams have nearly always been 442 with a winger in my 30 years supporting.

McCall wants this possession play in midfield and wing backs bombing on but at what cost. His confused squad doesn’t seem to work with any system.

He really does need to have a long hard think about things.

Evans looked like he is 4 weeks from match fitness. Why didn't he take one for the team instead of letting the lad through into the box.

That was more down to Salford taking their foot off the gas than anything we did. If we do go a flat back four who's our centre back pairing?

I thought it was a reasonable save but Wood let the team down by not reacting and their lad said thank you very much.
