I’d guess us and salford? The rest have been smart. Knew it was going to come in and signed all their players before who were on good money. And then voted for it

They haven't but the new market conditions will result in deflation potentially which I would guess the PFA's members would be unhappy with hence their grumbling.

this is gonna end up with the EFL with egg on their face, they've cocked up with the likes of Bury and Macclesfield and to try and show face and make amends they're gonna bring in a cap that panders to the lowest denominator. Truly baffling, technically if Harrogate can raise a 1.5 million salary budget they are on the same level as us spending wise. Utter madness.

Revenue from cup runs will be the club's .. as always. But apparently, if the club chooses to pay out bonuses or additional payments for cup runs (as they did in our LC year), those bonuses or payments won't count against the salary cap. It's a small blessing!

Yeah I think @Interested Bystander@Interested Bystander called it. We’ve been made to look very silly. Surely we talked to other chairman and knew they would vote in it’s favour?

Massively tilted in favour of City when it comes to recruiting players

Edin's dreams are coming true. Imagine if he was still around. He'd be signing up some Isthmian league one season wonders.

One of the wow factors for footballers after wages is to play in front of bigger crowds. Clubs with bigger crowds end to pay the better wages, goal bounces etc

However, this isn't going to be an attraction now.

Bradford City offer as much as Harrogate Town.

You could start to agree that the smaller clubs benefit massively from today's decision.

It is baffling and has allowed a few clubs to game the system already whilst we looked on!

The beneficiaries of this salary cap system will be the owners of the better-off clubs with a large fan base (such as ourselves!) which will now become profitable rather than at best simply ticking over. The big question yet to unfold is what happens to these profits? Will they get spent on better fans facilities or on better training facilities or better scouting? Or will they disappear into the pockets of the owners? We'll have to wait and see on that.

So really clubs could lose points if successful alternatively give players no incentive for success

Who knows what the finer details of their claim is. After all, we don't know all the intricacies of the cap.

Most clubs in league two have only just started signing players we got O’Donnell Clarke Cooke and Watt And Sutton signed up in good time.

My worry is not so much that we offer as much as others it’s that our recruitment, in the main, has heavily relied on released players from higher up. Certainly in recent years anyway.

we now need a whole re think on our recruitment process. Do you go youngsters to beat the cap? And what youngsters would leave a championship club or a premier league club until they absolutely have to, when they could be on a lot more than what they are on here. Players like Watt would surely stay at wolves and take his chance on loan until his contract ends.
Or do you go scouting our leagues and non-league for players who know what the money is and will join us because of our crowds (might not even matter this season).

For me we have to get it right and we have got a hell of a lot wrong in the last 4 or 5 windows. I’d say 80% wrong. It’s worrying.

The salary cap hasn't been thought through to a point where they haven't even discussed it with the PFA.

Always ways round things like this though.

Look at Man City as an example and how often do teams lose points for braking rules barring Admin.

i agree we did but have big gaping holes across our squad and will now be left with whatever is left. Relying on loans no doubt where your success for ones dropping down to this league is about 10% at best

There could also be players in the national league losing their incentive to try and move up the football pyramid if doing so means they are going to receive a drop in salary. Absolutely bonkers situation.
