I thought that's what he'd done last season.

He was first team and that role was merged with an analysis role, this is for the academy.
Interesting you bring him up as he was someone who started at the club as an unpaid intern before getting a full time paid role once he graduated.

Not sure, but it really wouldn't surprise me

Maybe Sparks should give up some of his wage for his continuous underperformance relative to on-field matters. Surely that will save us some money!

You certainly seem to know a lot about people and goings-on within the club. Much more insider knowledge that most of us. Extremely defensive too, soon as somebody dares to criticise the club

    Got something to tell us?

You've asked me this before and I gave you an answer. I work in sport so I know a lot of what goes on in football and people in it. If this was a forum about other clubs in the EFL I could say bits about them as well.

If people are working 40 hours a week, they should expect to be paid for that commitment. Why are these people worth less than others at the club if they're doing a job? Don't care where they find the cash, expecting volunteers to work 40 hours a week in a business with a multi million pound turnover and an incredibly wealthy owner is a sorry state of affairs.

Hypothetically, I expect you'd be just as supportive of this practice if you were made redundant, then a few weeks later found your job advertised as a voluntary position? I'm sure you'd empathise that people working in other roles in the business must've needed the money more than you?

All I'm saying is that it happens across all of football and there is no ideal solution. We could try to take the moral high ground but that comes at a cost to the first team. Most, if not all, will be students they'll still get their student finance. It is also up to 40 hours and that will take into account travelling for matches which I would assume they'll get expenses back.

This happens in a lot of roles like this in business where it's used to gain vital experience in an industry where there are many people trying to get a foot in the door. I can see the point of view that people are making but how else are you going to build up the experience necessary to get the more lucrative roles that come with real time experience? I guess they could pay minimum wage to help with expenses and the like.

My daughter got her first job as a marketing graduate (First Class Degree) by agreeing to one month trail, paid only expenses and was made permanent at the end of it. She now earns more than me at 24, and is on course to end up as the company's marketing manager. It happens in all walks of life.

Surely the proof is in who and how many people apply? Surely the club wouldn't just advertise if it wasn't the done thing.

People don't have to apply if they don't want. Some of the comments here make it sound like the people applying have no choice....

For me it is part of the image the club portray. We probably already struggle to attract footballers to our club due to various factors already discussed. Pay interns minimum wage is ok.

Well thanks for your illuminating comment! I am guessing you disagree which is fine, however it is normal to discuss why you think we should not pay anything to interns. For me they are like apprentices who get paid a wage while learning and contributing to the business.

Dear god, is that really him? Seriously??????

An odious individual with an infatuation for Naz Shah. He ruined the BCAFC hshtag by tagging in IPTV services because folk dared to criticise her.
