Big article in the Times today(Sat),about how Roman overcame a hip problem. It's a good read about a guy who always did his best for City.

What you would give for Vincelot as our captain again, assuming we were playing. A lot I would guess.

One of those you never have anything but good thoughts about, no ego and busted a gut in claret and amber.

Was never his biggest fan. Replace Cullen with any of the current lot and he’d have been exposed for the average player he was.

Which position? I know he played a fair few games at CB, and we had an excellent run of clean sheets.

I think we saw the best of him at centre half, by the time our issues there were resolved and he was in midfield again he just seemed to have lost a yard of pace. Those last minute tackles he used to make turned into him legging people because he couldnt get there more often than not. Great for us though and would take him back now tbh, he'd do a decent job in the middle of the park as a ball winner in L2. Also had the best jump of any player I've ever seen at city, for his height he won a ridiculous amount of aerial battles.

A good article - shows what hard work and determination can achieve - i hope for him he can get through the season with a clean bill of fitness.

As some mention above it was time for him to move on from us, however he’s probably the last ‘classic’ style of leader we had. I met him in a bar in London whilst he was on a Crawley pre season outing just after he signed for them. An absolute gentleman and spoke very highly of our club.

Good luck to him for the season ahead.

Agree another like Gary Jones who we should have had earlier, unfortunately we didn't but two great servants for our club.

This new Wolves keeper, Sa, looks like Vincelot’s twin brother

Yes I agree Bronco. In my time watching Bradford City the three players I wish we had got a few years earlier are Gary Jones, Remain Vincelot and Lammie Robertson who apparently Bryan Edwards had been after for some time.

Lammie Robertson there's a blast from the past, unfortunately as you say we got him in his declining years in fact I believe we were his last league club, my memories of Lammie was he didn't take prisoners very much like Gary Jones and Romain Vincelot, oh for a character like one of those in our present midfield.

Excellent player and an excellent character. Something that don't always go hand in hand.

Wish him well for the future and I'd imagine he's always welcome back at VP.

One of my best memories was during the home leg of the League Cup tie against Liverpool. My late wife and I were stood at the front of the paddock for that game. We had a brilliant view of Lammie dumping Graeme Souness on his backside just in front of us. Souness was putting his boot back on while moaning to the referee about the challenge from Robertson, Lammie just stood behind him smiling towards us and jestering that Souness might be into a certain type of sexual gratification.
Crude I know but it was funny at the time.

We stood at the front of the paddock once we grew out of the Bradford End, near the players entrance infront of the gents/tea bar, and stood there right up untill the fire.
