RIP 'The Prawn King', Mark Jackson

Some old timers from the days of the original City message board and Claret and Banter may remember Prawny as he was known.

I seemed to ban him from the Claret and Banter forum every other week, but despite that we always got on well.

We reconnected about 7 years ago and have been close friends since then, attending City together.


It is with great sadness that I have to share the news that Mark Jackson passed away at the weekend following a short illness.

In memory of Mark, we are organising a memorial gathering for friends at the Woodlands Inn, Oakenshaw at 2pm on Thursday 19 March.

This will be an opportunity to share memories of Mark and raise a toast to him.

The situation regarding Mark’s funeral is still unclear and may not be resolved for some time. It may not be local and may not be open to the public when it does take place. This gathering is not intended to replace or compete with any future funeral arrangements, but simply to give friends the opportunity to come together and remember Mark in the meantime.

Anyone who knew Mark is welcome to join us.
