Rouven had some great performances in the cup but when he was called upon in Jan it was a horror show.
I don't know what happened, I couldn't believe my eyes.

To be honest I actually started closing my eyes when the ball came to him.

Haven't kept tabs on him recently but highly rated a couple of years back.
I have my optimistic hat on with this signing so well done the club on getting an experienced and capable keeper in. I'm willing to believe that he is also a potential upgrade on Colin, fingers crossed.

I was with you until you spoilt it with the very last sentence. Doyle was (is) a good L1 keeper. That isn’t an opinion based on how poor Saatelmier and Raeder were.

All that aside, I welcome O’Donnell and if he proves to be as good (or better) than Doyle, then we will have a top keeper at this level

Just posted a reply very similar. Even now, some can’t see how good a player he was for us at this level.

Please don’t tell me you buy into the rubbish in his interview. You are better than that. It isn’t a shock that a new signing bigs up his new club. They’re hardly going to be saying negative things are they.

For example, “I’ve really wanted to come here for a few years now”. Yet when the chance presented itself, he chose Wigan. Not knocking his decision and I can see why, but please let’s not be pretending he’d walk in coals to play for us...!

As for the player himself (interview aside), good keeper at L1 level and his best days are still to come. Happy with this signing and made up he likes to come for crosses. With the full backs we have signed, he might be very busy in that respect

@Onside@Onside is in love with our new keeper - to the extent that she’s gone out and bought Mr Onside a goalie top

As Francis Urquhart said ‘you may very well think that. I couldn’t possibly comment’

I'll line 'em up - You knock em in. :)

Which is what most opposition strikers were doing in January too.

I’ve got no knives out but we have read enough comments that both full backs like to get forward so will inevitably leave gaps at the back

As any player should know Boing, when your full back gets forward, someone 'covers' him. This even happens at Sunday league level!

Of course he isn’t going to be saying negative stuff. It is like everything else in football, money chances to play higher take precedence. I think he was genuine when he said he was pleased to be here. The usual good fans etc. He had no need to mention the last time we were after him, so yes I do believe him. I have watched the vid of his games and like you I think he will be good for us,

Whilst this is correct, they are both very young and inexperienced. Do you not think they will make mistakes and not cover when they should?
