If McCall can't sort a midfield to challenge and perform week in week out then his knowledge of that position must of been lost when he fell of the mini roof.
I wouldn't expect anything else Bronco from Stuart and back him wholeheartedly to come up with the signings required this summer.
My only reservation regarding team building is obviously money.
Quality costs,but there will be plenty of unemployed footballers who just want to play, they are not all mercenaries
Hopefully a few will come our way.

 

Agree let's hope it was his heart ruling his head and he returned to the club where he started rather than us offering him big money to entice him back.

 

At the present moment I think most would agree a promotion tilt wont come any easier than next season, if Rupp funds us into the coming season whenever that is we should be amongst the favourites.

You'd think so, if there's a wage cap in place we've got to be in a strong position.

Small squad, maximum quality, Stuart should be able to attract a good number of talented players, it could be a good season.

Now we just need Boris to tell us that by September we can start using arenas!

 

Like most teams we will struggle to move on anybody currently under contract, simply because nobody else will be offering better terms. In that respect we will likely have to work around what we currently have and build our team accordingly whether we like it or not. Especially if there is a maximum senior squad size of 20 as is rumoured.

Our forward line is pretty much finalised based upon players under contract e.g Vaughan, Donaldson, Novak and Guthrie.

Likewise our central defence is pretty much covered with the O'Connors and Richards-Everton.

In which case that leaves the full backs and the midfield as the areas we will be strengthening. To be fair if you asked me in February what areas we need to prioritise in the summer, those two areas would have been my choices. It's not ideal that we have to choose, but most teams will be operating under similar constraints.

 

No surprises. O'Donnell probably the only one I would have been tempted to offer a new contract to too.

Main concern now is McCall has no room for manouvre to bring in a couple of his own choice of strikers.

At least he has been able to rip up the shambolic midfield and start again.

I think the problem is there may be rules regarding offering new deals that are worse than current ones

 

Think that is when they are under a certain age and you are wanting a fee.

I’m only sad Donaldson wasn’t shown the door too, consistent, but only in being extremely poor, we are surely just a last payday for a player a long time past his best.

Suprised about GSK. Thought he was meant to have a few top clubs scouting him? Can’t have been on much, and has been with us since a youngster.
Don’t really care about the others. Will be watching to see where Devine and Gibson end up. Probably at the same club up the road. Let’s see if Riley really is a promising player. Again, interesting to see who takes a punt on him.
If Rupp doesn’t back Stuart now, looks like we’re going to struggle. Can’t see Vaughan wanting time come back and play with any of the retained.
