On Saturday evening we dined at the Waterside Restaurant, Shipley for the third time this year. The food, staff and atmosphere were excellent and I would recommend their latest menu.

 

Good, innit.

 

Onion rings add another 300 calories & 45% fat, just saying

 

Calories wasn't my main concern at that point.

 

People who count calories are whoppers of the highest order. Like people who have a step counter on their wrist and follow it religiously. Worried about eating a bit too much? Just go for a long walk after you've eaten.

Just been to Stefanos Silsden again it is really outstanding good quality basic Italian. You need to book in advance but they do have cancellations at times if you check the web site. We don’t really look at the menu just check out the specials board and Becky I think it is the lady in charge tells you what’s on . I do recommend the fish for us guys and if you don’t fancy a nice wine there’s bottles of Landlord to wash it down.

Ooh calories, everybody is different, personally I am ripped bordering buff...at 56. If you asked me at 7 or 8pm what I've eaten, I'd be able to tell your exactly what and have a pretty accurate idea of how many calories I'd consumed. I am a cyclist. Still, that wasn't why I mentioned them, it was the staggering amount in the Spoons menu, normally I wouldn't notice, but they have them listed and wow, 1500-2000 calories in some burger meals, if eat you normally but add a Spoons burger meal for your lunch you are going to be a fat fook very quickly.

Kanassa, Leeds market yesterday, I've had my eye on this Columbian veggie food joint for a while. After going to Leeds for Xmas shopping and doing FA in 3 hours but booze we were hungry, we both had the smoked aubergine empanada.

"Corn pasty filled with smoked aubergine, potato, parsley, chimichurri, tahini sauce, pickled raddisha and pomegranet"

It took a while but looked ace and tasted flippin ace, a fiver, great value IMO. Downside was I think the 2 cans of pop (Ok was San Pellegrino) were £2 each, it's psychological but I'd have been happier if the empanda had been £6. Oh, and yet another lazy place that can't be bovvered to have a website cos everybody uses FB, I & many others don't, it's a few quid and usually I won't use a place that does this, but it was flippin tasty.

 

Nowt wrong with calories - just eat them at the right time, that’s what a lot of people don’t understand.
That looks pretty special tbh.

 

Yep, also I have to always consider the amount of "dead" calories I get through on alcohol. There is no free ride...
