Restaurants and stuff

On the offchance that someone is reading this. We are off to Chester with our Northern Rail £2 tickets today. Does anyone know of a good place for a light lunch in the City Centre?

We really like a French Bistro called Chez Jules. Very informal, not silly money and the food is quite traditionally french. We have never been on a lunchtime but have enjoyed some really good evenings there. Have a look at see what you think.

 

I had a good lunch in Cote Brasserie in Chester a couple of years ago.

Thanks @ahar964 . We had a very nice prix fixe lunch at Chez Jules. Thanks for the recommendation.
We also visited the cathedral and walked the city walls which gave us an excellent view of the river, the Roman remains and the racecourse. The trains were on time and only £2 each way. A grand day out.

 

Glad you've had a good day and the restaurant didn't let me down. It is our "go to" when staying in Chester. Wow those trains were a bargain!

 

Yes we always watch out for the Northern Rail flash sales, they are usually twice a year. The price has gone up a bit, we once went to Carlisle for 10p each way. We have also visited York, Manchester, Harrogate and Lancaster in the past. Obviously restricted to stations on the Northern Rail network, and not all routes available.

It's walking distance for me!.....just. We've been a few times, the food has always been good if a little on the pricey side, but the natural wines, while distinctive, can really push the price up. @Allotment Bantam it's like a smaller, upmarket version of Chez Jules .

On a side note Pranzo, another independant on Town Street, closed down at the beginning of August. They couldn't make ends meet in Horsforth but have kept their branches in Ilkley and Harrogate going.
