I just wanted to make this visible in case for any reason the referee from tonight happened across this forum/thread.

His last 9 games and the cards he's dished out:

    1) Wrexham 4Y+1R, Colchester United 2Y
    2) Mansfield Town 3Y, Grimsby Town 1Y
    3) Fleetwood Town 2Y, Bolton Wanderers 1Y
    4) Tranmere Rovers 1Y, Notts Count 1Y
    5) Doncaster Rovers 1Y, Wigan Athletic 2Y
    6) Lincoln City 2Y, Derby County 2Y
    7) Leyton Orient 4Y, Carlisle United 0Y
    8) Wycombe Wanderers 2Y, Peterborough United 1Y
    9) Bradford City 5Y, MK Dons 1Y

TOTAL HOME CARDS: 24 Yellows, 1 Red
    TOTAL AWAY CARDS: 11 Yellows

How can a referee with an agenda this obvious still be allowed to referee games?

This guy is nothing short of a disgrace. In the couple of games he's evened it up or punished away sides more, guess what? 'Bigger' teams.

Absolutely pathetic statistics from a pathetic referee.

My guess is an assessor once told him he was influenced by the home crowd : unamused:

TBF he was shite. MK just had to fall over to get a free kick. Good job Payne is shit at free kicks though or we could have had some damage tonight.

Then book Smallwood for time wasting when we are 4 up! Don't these clowns actually think before they act?

Smallwood was right in front of me, and reset before curling a long range cross into the box. What he did didn't even eat up much time, he just took two steps forward, then back again to reset. That was probably the most egregious yellow of the season.

Then he booked another of ours for time wasting, yet Swindon Town repeatedly switched throwers and wasted just as much if not more time (albeit all of the incidents of 'time wasting' were non-events not worthy of even a talking to, let alone a card).

Now I've seen his statistics, I can see it's a pattern with this guy.

Appalling referee. Hopefully he's just on a horrific run of form, or he deserves binning out of the EFL.

The yellow cards for remonstrating with the linesman for Cook then one of their players gives the ref an ear full and he waves him away!!!
    Totally biased all game.

The one to Smallwood was comedy gold. Who time wasters when your 4 nil up ref?

That was an easy one, Cook should have known better with a card happy ref.

Easily the worst referee this season.

Normally impartial to referees as they have a difficult job, but Ollie Yates’s performance took the biscuit. Worst ref I’ve seen at VP for some time, probably since Jeremy Simpson at home to Swindon last year

It's only really games 1, 7 and 9 that would need looking at. The rest are pretty equal, Jon, to be fair.

Definitely up there with one of the worst ref performances I have seen. Even the MK players were getting pissed off with him in the second half, as every time he blew the whistle it disrupted any kind of rhythm they were trying to regain. Yet another example of the atrociously poor quality of officiating in the lower leagues. Erratic, inconsistent, frustrating, and unacceptable

I'm just glad we won comfortably, because it means we can all piss & moan about how poor the ref was without being accused of sour grapes!

It was the complete opposite of a dirty, niggly game. On that pitch all he had to do was let the game flow rather than try and intervene at every opportunity. Smallwoods card oh my , that was an appalling decision.

Just coming into a bit of form and we lose him. From memory I think a few of those bookings were for dissent. I like a bit of passion but we need to be smarter than that

Gilly drop into his role and Richards return to left wing back? ( If he’s permitted under the concussion protocols) or worst case Rides back.

Last 9 games? Was that number picked just to get the Wrexham match in rather than start of the season or a nice round number?
