No that's exactly what he is saying.

‘If we have a head coach who can develop our players, we can increase the value of the squad. This way, we can find our own way of competing against these big budgets.’

That's what he intends to do, develop the younger players, build the value and at the same time (maybe not next season) trying to find a way of competing in the league to eventually compete at the top.

"Trying to find a way of competing in the league" is hardly something we should be having to ponder as the club with the biggest crowd in the league.

Their 3 year plan was bullshit, they've fed the fans with crap to keep us on side and all-in-all they are business men with no interest in how we progress on the pitch.

If we achieved back to back relegations but created a £1m 19 year old from nothing in each of the seasons they would be delighted. That we can be sure of.

Of course there's no guarantees, we won't know either way until we get there though

All well and good, Rod - But if the scaling down is true - Then just WHAT calibre of player are City bringing in (potential) ?
You just aint gonna attract a DACK type player, if all you can attract is some goof who can identify a football - Jeeze, most on here would qualify !! (Errrr .............. JUST ! ?)

Delighted?? I very much doubt that.

Yes the 3 year plan was pie in the sky, the latest interview is far more realistic and achievable.

We only have the biggest attendances because of the price of season tickets.

Not if we build a team and manage to sell on a few gems that way they can increase the budget and wages. If you buy a house and do it up and make a profit then you have more funds to buy a better house and do that up and make more money , same principle in getting young players . It may take time but at least we are spending within our means and not risking another admin. And who's to say we won't build a team this season and be challenging for the top 6 it all depends on the players attitude and gelling as a team.

Are you on the same cloud cuckoo land as Mr Rahic?

This is a football club supported by thousands of passionate fans not an investment firm.

For one, there is absolutely no guarantee that the players we sign for cheap, whether they are young inexperienced Joel Gradowski's or German non-league Kai Bruncker's, will turn out to be 'gems' that we can just sell on. We cannot be deluded into thinking it is a given that this will happen especially with a potentially young inexperienced coach such as Cathro (which coincidentally Edin hinted in his T&A interview he would be willing to give a chance to young inexperienced coaches!).

Also, the aim from the top ought to be to create a football team that fans can have faith in and push for promotion. We are not in the Premier League where we can settle for 'being able to compete' or merely aiming to survive in this division. We simply have to be going for it given our fanbase. It would not be living beyond our means by actually giving it a reasonable go and showing some ambition!

These guys are so far apart from the fans it's untrue and they are digging a deeper hole every time they open their mouths as it's becoming more and more apparent exactly what they are about.

Even if they lost £1.5 mil in ticket sales per year?

Perhaps ‘lost in translation’ or playing clever as you suggest (and is a real possibility); but he does state, “The head coach will be a team player, who understands that we have to bring players through. Otherwise it just wouldn’t work.

“It’s not just promotion. We don’t want to get to the Championship and then have to sign 20 new players – that cannot be right”.

That suggests that they want to develop a team, which if promoted, would need some additions rather than wholesale change.

All I am doing is looking at what he has said, and thinking through how it could translate into action.

Now whether it is a realistic solution, is another question.

Don't think I'd want to be an investor or a fan right now. Nothing that has been said by the chairmen fills me with any confidence for the future.

Agreed that cheap season tickets bring bigger crowds. It is very nice to have the big crowds though.

I think you're deluded. We'd have to sell a player a year at £5 million to give us a semi competitive budget. That's just not going to happen.

Without investment from the owners, we won't survive in the Championship for any period of time.

We might fluke a season like Burton. But nothing long term.

Why are you sorry? I am not, I fully accept that fans have differing views of the same situation. Not that keen on attaching labels because ppl have different views. I am glad you can find some mirth in my posts. I actually didn’t think we were having a heated debate, of course I try and read everybody’s post with an open mind, but I must admit to switching off when labels are attached.

If you don’t respect my view, it doesn’t really matter, I am not going to have a breakdown honest;)

Absolute winner. There are no guarantees that any scout, coach, will be able to spot the gems, if it was that easy most of the clubs would be doing it. The PL, go in for dredging every single youth that shows or attracts a scout/coach; signs them up, and coughs them out later when they have failed to make the mark.

Mickey - It's becoming increasingly clear that these guys are making shit up as they go along.

"Let's get to the premiership and give away £1 tickets" - Making statements like that gives out the impression they're absolutely loaded and we will fly to the premier league and offer dirt cheap tickets to fans.

That has turned to "We cannot afford to compete with the top of league 1, lets buy young/unknown players and raise their value"

They are a pair of jokers and more fool those who are being bought in by their shite.

    But isn't THAT the point @HUDDERSSBANTAM@HUDDERSSBANTAM ????
With a minimum investment, one can only expect a minimal in talent ? Either that or long term Development. So OK - Buy a 23 year year old for £30k ........ Take 10 years to develop him ......... and then worth almost jack crap !
Hell, the bloke has just screwed us. Tell you what - I'LL apply, shall I ? :D At 60 years old, every limb in my body is shot, but screw that, my brain still works, and I may 'develop' ? ;)
But your point is duly noted. Serious Development NEEDS serious investment.

I feel like this next managerial appointment is key. We need someone who really buys into the plan and the approach taken by the chairmen. Parkinson, McCall and Grayson all seemed to be at odds with it and it wasn’t good for anyone.

At least Rahic states that they are looking for a head coach who fits the structure, so all this talk of unrest behind the scenes (that was constant throughout McCall’s reign) will stop. Everyone needs to pull in the same direction. Warburton would be a good fit, he worked under a similar model at Brentford and has always tried to play a decent style of football.

I don’t agree with all the doom and gloom on here. We’ve seen it many times before that a well constructed team, with a good manager can get promoted. Money isn’t everything. People on here talk like we’re doomed just because he’s implied we’re not going to be spending huge amounts of money. I don’t agree. Come August we’ll be in a better position to predict but at the moment people seem very dramatic to be writing us off.
