Hell, I couldn't agree with you more. Like everyone else, I was both annoyed and gobsmacked at our delayed response.
That ship has now long since sailed, and we must accept the future, hoping renewed fortunes and confidence are on their way. :)

On the duration? No. But when he left specifically referenced ‘declining the option to extend his contract’ so the offer must’ve been there. For however long.

Edin said on average Championship clubs lose £10m every season. Maybe this is why he wants to build up the infrastructure at City before we get promoted.

There's no guarantee that it will or won't work and there was no guarantee that we would have become a steady championship side. I would guess that the plan wouldn't change that much if we did get into the championship as I don't see huge amounts of cash being chucked in the budget just because we got promoted.

Hoyle was backing them up to the tune of £5 million a year. Dennis has already covered before how Burnleys directors financed their strategy to get back in the premiership. Our model is nowhere near the likes of what Burnley and Huddersfield used.
Our owners have a strategy, i respect the fact they actually have some sort of plan and wish them the best of luck in their endeavours. But lets not pretend its the same strategy that Burnley and Huddersfield used because it isn’t.

This season it looks like the 3 promoted clubs will be the 3 relegated from the Championship last season !!!

    It's
"We're not going to invest in players"
"We don't want a manager who will interfere with our plans"
"We're gonna appoint a "yes man" who no-one has ever heard of"
"Please don't criticize our plans even though we're doomed to mediocrity "
"I've just bought some "Magic Beans" from a guy down the pub"
    "Don't worry"

I can't fathom out how he could have any hope this idea could work, at least work as in achieve success.

he keeps banging on about signing young, improving players and selling on, making a profit in the transfer market - the ONLY thing that achieves, AT BEST, is a team that stands still, and has a healthy bank account and I don't know how that benefits the fans.

the real risk, while he's going about using us as a real life game of Football Manager is that we get relegated. nothing to gain and everything to lose springs to mind.

“Rahic insisted City are not in a position to throw money at promotion”

“If we have a head coach who can develop our players, we can increase the value of the squad. This way, we can find our own way of competing against these big budgets.”

“We will not take the massive risk to invest too much money in the playing budget. “

“We want to be brave enough to give opportunities to young players”

These direct quotes speak for themselves. I'm not sure these guys give a flying feck if we go up or down or stay where we are, so long as they are making a profit.

    RAHIC AND RUPP OUT!

As has been said on a few threads ............ It's OK investing - but more on the DACKS, and not Patricks, in this world. :)

Exactly. I'm not sure why he thinks fans want to watch the next set of Patricks and Brunkers. That won't sell season tickets that's for sure.

all the fans want is to watch a team that's winning football matches. we aren't going to be watching that with the likes of Omari Patrick and Kai Bruncker.

We can't and never have (since the premiership years) been able to afford the Dacks.

Well this is where their plans are flawed. You either sign the better young players or don't do it at all. The Poleons won't cut it.

I wish people (and Edin) would realise there is another option, that falls somewhere in the middle of what we have now, and "spend spend spend"

I'm not asking them to buy success, or risk the club, or chuck money at anything, and neither do I want them to pay kids they've found on the rec 30pence a week and pass them off as League 1 footballers.

I have had a look at the article in the T&A. It does not say that players will be sold on. I recall that has been said in the past, but not this time.

He actually comments, ‘If we have a head coach who can develop our players, we can increase the value of the squad. This way, we can find our own way of competing against these big budgets.’

He adds, ‘We know that this isn’t just about developing young players, if that was purely our intention then we would have bought another club where we could just focus on developing youngsters’.

So there seems to be a shift from develop then sell, to develop and utilise when promoted.

Said it several times, in my view we need a squad of about 36 players which includes the development squad.

Some players may well overlap, such as Robinson and to a lesser extent Divine and Patrick.

If Rahic said he wanted to develop the performance and ability of players (flair artistry), rather than their value (quasi economic unit) it would be far more engaging.

For me we have to have a tandem model where we sign some players near or at the top of their game, to balance with those, who so far only have ‘potential ‘.

He would be very foolish to say this outright as it would cause a huge outcry. He has strongly suggested that this is the case though, by focusing on increasing the value of players rather than building a team ready to challenge for promotion!

This isn't just their plan though, this has been our plans since the Premiership days and probably a high % of other League 1 sides.

There is a huge difference in money between a Dack and a Poleon.

Why can you not buy good young talent and develop them, surely a good coach can do this? Dack was signed from non league (If I remember correctly) he obviously had talent and was then coached properly into the player he is today.
