I fully expect that things need to get worse before they get better.

It simply won’t work under these owners. They’re deluded, incompetent and unwilling to put their own money in. I have zero confidence in them whatsoever.

 

Maybe after interviewing for the full time post they realised Grayson wasn't buying into their demand for entertaining football and developing youth?

Grayson FAILED at City. We dropped 5 places under his management.

I'm neither for nor against Grayson but I doubt any manager would have faired better tbh.. the players were revolting(urgh!), I don't know why and I won't speculate as I dare say we'll find out eventually but they literally 'downed tools' and didn't put any effort in until it was too late.

But you are correct, we need someone who will buy into the philosophy. Whether that person is a seasoned campaigner or a relative novice remains to be seen.

 

In order for this succeed, it will require a massive slice of luck on all fronts. The coach they appoint will need the temperament of a saint, and an enormous amount of untapped skill and expertise. That Greg has found a quantity of diamonds in his list of players. That the tooth fairy has been released from where she has been hiding under the pitch to sprinkle stardust on the pitch.

What happens Edin if your train ie never gets on the track or is derailed at Christmas? Sack the coach? We end up in the lower part of the division or worse we end up propping up League 1. In other words, do you have a plan B?

Name me a club that has been successful at this level with this sort of plan? Promoted, stay promoted and gone up into the Premiership?

 

I don't think it's a case of them not having deep pockets. The problem is that they have short arms

Rahic clearly has a plan, he mentions developing youth 5/6 times. It is a matter close to his heart whether folk buy into it or not is there prerogative. He also said they won't invest 'too much' into the playing budget. That to me says they are willing to pump some money in outside of the turnover from ticket sales etc.

Rahic is a realist, he won't risk his or the clubs future on chasing rainbows. Its easy to sit and criticise with your £169 season tickets as your only investment.

I'm prepared to give the guy a chance. First season the owners should be credited, they helped build a really competitive squad - last season was a bit of a disaster. Let's hope they put things right for this upcoming season.

 

I share in everyone else’s concerns and as is well documented I want the owners gone. I really hope I’m wrong but I can’t see a scenario where this plan turns out well. At best we’ll be the next Barnsley at worst the new Crewe. I can see a season of mid table struggle ahead and If things really go tits up a relegation battle.

 

Well for starters we probably would have kept Meredith, McArdle and Marshall. Possibly bought Josh Cullen out right and would have been able to afford to a better quality of player than we did last summer.

4/5 decent additions to that squad will have seen us ok. That's what Millwall did.

 

Despite all the negativity on here and social media I see this as a very positive statement. OK it's very clear that the route they are taking may take time and may mean a couple of years flirting with the play offs and getting the right balance. It's plainly obvious that we will not be bank rolled into the Championship and the situation is made more difficult every season with the quality and money being relegated - Wigan, Blackburn and Rotherham possibly all going back up, the gap is getting bigger and bigger.

If you are a coach and want to develop players then this is a great move. If you are a coach then why wouldn't you want to be given the opportunity the develop, improve and give these players a chance without the backing of the chairmen? Yes it's clear that we are wanting to develop to sell at a profit but if you get the right mix (proved by Rotherham last night) you can bring in younger, hungrier players who want to play football and aim as high as they can.

The 3 year plan looks to have been ripped up - good, no assurances of promotion imo is a good thing and something the fans can't chuck back at them should it not happen. There is still an ambition to get into the championship but it may not be next season.

This appointment is massive and I'm glad they haven't rushed it, I'd prefer they took their time and make sure they get the right man for the job but do it in time for them to be able to plan for next season and bring in the right mix of players as well as getting rid of the deadwood currently at the club.

 

Meredith and Marshall wanted to leave, McArdle wanted too much money.

Cullen is on the bench in the premiership and playing cup games for West Ham - he was never ever going to stay here.

I agree with every word. I hope we're proved wrong but I can't see it no matter which way I look at it.

 

I am talking about Bradford as a Championship club, had we beaten Millwall. The whole landscape would have changed surrounding Meredith, McArdle and Marshall...........also, Cullen went to Bolton, so entirely possible we could have had him back in some way.

new coach has to be "brave enough" to play young players. or, enough of a yes man to take orders to play young players from mr. I know football in the boardroom.

we're going down aren't we. beyond the first 11 the squad will be filled out with the likes of Omari, Kai, Tom Clare, Callum Gunner. I'll be amazed if we're "competitive" unless by that he means competitive enough to finish bottom half.

 

Aren't those two quotes a contradiction, you agree he should have been sacked yet the very people who sacked him did not do what you're suggesting and bringing in a bit of quality.
