Three actually. Dont Halifax RU play there ?

I appreciate its not in Bradford, but if we did have to move it would be a contender, a better choice than Odsal for sure.

    Cougar Park isn't an.option.

I would be negotiating with varying local clubs that can cater for our needs at that time. If we are a league 2 club in 7 years we probably won’t have any need for 13000 seats

Forgive me for being stupid, but if Rupp won’t put his hand in his pocket to sign an out of contract player to pull us out of the sh*t, where do we think he’s going to find the motivation to fund a shiny new 25k stadium? If he was remotely interested in taking this club forward long term, he’d have been making plans already,

The 1903 club was put together to raise transfer funds, and due to the deafening silence after the big announcement, I’d say it wasn’t as successful as they’d hoped.

Who are these local clubs and what rent will they be wanting to charge us? Don't forget any revenue income will decrease due to us not being able to sell enough tickets and merchandise sales will be down. I hope you've factor all this sort of stuff into your move. And if we do move when are we moving back to Bradford? Have you got a date in mind for when we return to our home city?

Is Northampton or Birmingham in Coventry?
    Was Don Valley in Rotherham?
Is Milton Keynes in Wimbledon ?
    Is Cardiff in Newport?
    Is Blackburn in Carlisle?
    Is Doncaster in Harrogate.

however, Odsal is in Bradford but I guess you won’t want that either?

It’s Hobson’s Choice isn’t it? You pay the VP rent or show you’re serious about spending £30-50m on a new ground. And the repayments on a new ground will dwarf the current rent. Depreciated over 25 years, £1-2m a year.

Talk of Headingley, the Shay, Huddersfield, it’s utter nonsense. I absolutely guarantee you, I’m 100% certain, that the drop off in commercial and match day revenue associated with a move outside the city would dwarf any savings in rent.

Sparks and Rupp go into a meeting with Gibb, your proposal is too high, we’re off to Halifax. Gibb’s response? He’ll do a better job than this but here’s an example.
The Shay holds 10,000, minus 1,000 to away fans. You’d need to sell the remaining 9k capacity as ST at £300 each to get the same revenue as 13k at VP, and even if you do that, which is unlikely because you’ve pissed off half your fans, and half the capacity is standing which you can’t charge as much for and you can’t get any pay on the day punters in because it’s already full of season tickets. So already you’re down a couple of hundred grand over the season. Then you draw Liverpool in the FA Cup, guaranteed sold out 25,000 at VP, £625k at £25 a pop. At the Shay you up the price to £35 a head, it’s still only £350k, you’re another £300k down. Halifax would have to let you play there for free to make commercial sense.

I’ve been in negotiations for extending a commercial lease, both sides of the table know the score, City are staying where they are, the only negotiating is whether the new lease is on the same or different terms and for how long. They don’t even have to agree a new lease, City can holdover the current lease on the same terms and as long as FLPF accepts the payments, which they will, they can stay there.

£500k a year isn’t that bad compared to other league two clubs, it’s at the top end but then so are attendances.

As for the wage budget, Rupp needs to spend a bit, perhaps look at how what money there is is spent and Sparks needs to work hard to bring in more money. In their most recent accounts FGR spent 3.6m on all wages in a 14 month period, so £3m a year plus on costs. Probably in the top three wage bills in the division. City should be competitive on £2-2.5m a year if they didn’t keep spunking money on the likes of Kelleher.

I take it you haven't seen Odsal lately? A bit of paint on the old girl doesn't disguise the fact she ain't useabke for professional football and 15,000 crowds. No point in answering the first part of your reply.

Don't forget the loss of banquetting income, non matchday income, no ground/stand sponsorship income, reduced advertising hording income, maybe no income from matchday kiosk sales. Plus cost of renting a club shop and office space

I hear your concerns about not playing in Bradford temporarily but that might be the only way unless we reach the Championship in next 7 seasons and can afford to offer Gibb a reasonable figure to buy back VP. If he refuses to sell then we have to leave. The alternative is dropping pants , bending over and letting him royally screw us for many more years.

All of those apart from the shameful transfer of Wimbledon to MK were temporary extenuating circumstances.

As for Odsal? Really? Seriously? It was a shithole 25 years ago and hasn’t had much more than a lick of paint since then.

How many other league 2 clubs pay rent. Don’t most own the ground?
And if the problem is in fact spunking money on shit players then who’s to blame for that? Adams? Sparks? Rupp?

We are not being screwed. We are paying the market price for a 25,000 seater stadium. If there was any other viable alternative then we would be using it as a bartering tool. But we need to stop this ridiculous notion that we will play out of Bradford while Valley Parade still exists. Its a venue very close the hearts of the fans for reasons we all know, it's suits our needs as a club that has grown its fan base.
No matter what we discuss on here Bradford City will not leave Valley Parade. What we pay in rent is for the negotiation skills of Rupp if he's still here and Sparks. Even if we end we with mythical new owners do you think they'll be building us a new stadium?
I think we all know the answer to that one.
