Just looking at the ‘casualty’ list, we are starting to get down to the bare bones.
Cook and Richards out for the season
The dynamic midfield of Sarcaveic, Pattison and Pointon all out, probably not back until at least the Crewe game.
Critchlow injured against Salford, and Kelly although back in training not match fit.

Pick up a few more injuries and we will start to lose the capacity to hurt teams, plus the cohesion which playing a regular team offers.

After the euphoria of Tuesday evening, cold hard reality starts to set in. This ride is going to be unpredictable.

Difference now from previous attempts is having points in the bag rather than still chasing for 'em ...

I kinda get what you are saying Rod, but not too concerned.

    Season absentees
Cook, Covered by Mellon, Walker and Leigh
    Richards ditto Wright and Tayo

Getting Khela in will turn out to be a masterstoke he’s very adaptable
    Ditto Walker
    Ditto Leigh

Backline, not worried Hunts and Byrne have proved capable in the short to medium term and I don’t think Romy will be an issue either after his knock.

Remember all teams are in the same boat too?

It just needs one or two more injuries/health/family and or personal crisis/loss of form.

Totally agree about the potential for other teams to have similar issues, but I haven’t attempted to trawl their details, so not actually aware of the respective situations.

I tend towards the glass half empty approach. Caution and quiet optimism, but sometimes things are out of your control. Hope the anxiety is totally unfounded.

Look where Walsall were less than eight weeks ago. A great position for City to be in now, but still around eight weeks until the end of the season. A lot can happen.

Agree , where do you stop in providing cover though ? Even though MKD , not competitors I know, who have a big squad, can't buy a point . It is what it is but I’m certain we ain’t outliers . ? The results on Tues proves all are having hiccups in some way or another .

Well I was feeling quite upbeat until I read this. Last Saturday we had a new team out and we gelled straight away. We do have a long sick and injured list but have faith in this team. If we do pick up injuries then who ever comes in will not want to let the side down.

I'm not too worried about the injuries as the guys who have come in haven't put a foot wrong. Adaramola has taken that LWB role and made it his for the season. Lapslie just had his best performance in years looking at his data. Walker looked amazing on and off the ball on Tuesday night. Yes, the bench doesn't look as studded as it was a month ago, but the squads purpose is for times like this.

Wright will probably be back this weekend after the concussion. Sarcevic and Pointon didn't sound too worrisome, couple of weeks, might be back around Colchester or Accrington at the latest. Pattison will be end of this month/start of next. It's a good job we got the results when we did to give ourselves this padding, but from the sounds of things we have maybe 3/4 more matches with the lads we have now maybe with the addition of Kelly & Wright to cover a few areas off the bench too. Gillingham look awful lately, ditto Tranmere, Colchester will be a challenge and Accrington should be safe and have little to play for by the time we rock up. This teams still got enough about it to get at least 2 wins from the 4 remaining in March which would still see us in the top 3 by April when most come back.

Well I think the management team have instilled in the squad the must win mentality and that rather than skill will pull us through.

It's a real opportunity now for the likes of Lapslie, Walker and Khela to stake a claim and make the shirt their own. Of course we all want Bobby, Sarc and Patto fit and available as soon as possible, but if those 3 continue in the same vein as Tuesday night, the others might find it difficult to work their way back into the starting 11, and that can only be a good thing.

Pointon will be back for the Tranmere match.
Sarcevic I think even though it says a few weeks the words from GA of we will see him before the end of the season suggests April for the run in.
    Patto similar.
The joy of the squad is many are fresh and just hitting their stride.

Alexander said Kelly was a naturally fit lad and was back on the grass I think he said he may be in contention for the weekend, I think Critchlow could also be back, unfortunately we have several choices available with regards defenders, can Jamie Walker do three games on the bounce and put the sort of performances in that he's done recently?.

Grimsby will give Walsall a game on Saturday.
If Walker, Khela and Lapslie continue where they left off on Tuesday then it will be Patts, Sarcs, Bobbs who.

Think it is bud get through the next two weeks then we may be up to full strength again ...........and the really good thing is that the players that haave come in will be hell bent on keeping there places.
Some of the teams around us will lose key players and it will hurt them we look an even better team with players missing.

In my terms we win 5 out of our last 11 games we should be more or less there and we could make massive inroads into them wins over the next few weeks

A great result if Walsall fook up but to me its keeping an eye on Notts C and Wimbledon both looking like there form is hitting a patchy spell we continue in our form for another four or so games and they keep theres going then it may be one hell of a gap going into the last 7 games :)

Just got a feeling that 80 points may see us up which means in order to catch us they have to really pick up and that doesnt look like its happening.
